I just would have thought that the “signature song” slot would have been reserved for something like Automatic, or maybe even Hikari or Can You Keep a Secret? - not a relatively mellow ballad that was a post-album single. 1

It was a post-album single because people went batshit insane for it and demanded a video/single treatment for it. But yes, I'm surprised as well but maybe it has to do with the lyrical content, because she has much better ballads, not to mention songs in general, to choose from to stan. 1

I always knew it was going to be way out ahead of the others. It's pretty much the only track that doesn't get lumped in the trash pile. But maybe that was because I perused the PopJustice version of this rate a lot when prepping.
