Who would’ve thought The Marvels would take the mantle away from The Flash as the biggest comic book movie bomb of the year.

Saw the movie and it was bad.  I mean, not really worse than the other recent marvel movies, but I guess they had to bomb like this eventually.  The picture of the villain in the tweet :deadbanana: the party city wig

Ok its time we realise that going full female centric right now when your whole brand is under attack will just make you lose money BECAUSE of the toxic conservative culture the internet is spewing towards disney and disneys attempt to make progressive content.

but, disney is still one of the major studios that has poc and lgbtq leads. But clearly the audiences arent showing up. Unfortunately white males is what comic movies need to be in movie seats..and those white males arent happy.

Also the movie just didnt look good tbh

You’re giving Disney way too much credit :ahh:

Also white males were mostly who showed up to the Marvels.

Nia Decosta career is over ain’t it. Can’t imagine her ever directing another Hollywood project.

You gotta give credit where credit is due. Disney makes movies with black/hispanic/indian and asian leads...not many studios do that. Add on that the leads are female and also lgbtq. Disney has SO MUCH hate right now and its definitely contributing to its box office results.

She booked another project before this luckily. She took Grace Randolph’s advice.

This is a cop-out. The Barbie movie was entirely female-centric and explicitly spoke out against patriarchy and made a billion dollars. It's not about that. Marvel needs better writers. All these movies are like a whole bunch of nonsense world-building about characters we don't care about, littered with poor cringey jokes, with bad CG, followed by a 30-minute action sequence at the end. That's all these movies have become. They're all expendable and stupid at this point.

That is crazy. Wasn't a huge fan of the film but it doesn't deserve this kind of floppage :deadbanana:

If this gets the MCU to make less movies but up the quality (... like get better writers) then good.

They need gay superheroes thats why :giraffe:

Captain marvel was a huge hit despite only being an ok movie so like I don't think the issue is Brie I think it really is just Marvel fatigue. Maybe the superhero movie boom is over even. :coffee2:

Its disney+ fault and over saturating characters that we used to wait years to see again with anticipation

She’ll still be able to direct indie projects but as far a blockbuster movies go, not so much.

Hopefully this is their “The Flash” and a reboot a la DCEU - DCU is coming cuz everything after Endgame has been god awful (except the MCU SM trilogy). Get rid of Feige and get someone who actually is creative with the material and knows how to plan stuff that’s actually exciting for the fans  :cm:

The Colored Purple musical is apparently doing very well in pre-sales right now and the biggest film of the year had an extremely diverse cast so we can't keep using this "everyone is out to get poor ole Disney" excuse.

The real kii is that they touted Brie as the eventual leader of the MCU after Avengers 4 and quickly tied her up with a 7-movie contract :skull: she has 4 remaining dddd

Every time I'm supposed to see it, I have to cancel because family members can't make it :rip:

Maybe next week I'll just see it alone mid-week.

They need to stop making major movies about heroes we don’t care about that much yet. No reason for these three to get their own major motion picture.

Marvel has so many big, iconic, characters that should’ve had their story told first.

Not the MCU being her Kemosabe
