The gen one evos are too slayful. I would gladly take Steelix - Scizor - Porygon2 - Kingdra - Blissey as a top five ngl.

& I totally forgot Crobat too. Another ten. It's OVER for the gen two originals.

I could've sworn Dunsparce was popular, but she placed low 7 years ago too :deadbanana:

Like i can understand a lazy design like Dudunsparce flopping, but Dunspace? :biblio:

I'll rephrase myself so I make more sense lol:

Google forms will add an extra difficulty to verify who's scores are real, I think.

Furret jumps from #54 to #49. Congratulations Furret on top 50, Gligar falls to #52 :suburban:

On the bright side I was thinking of doing 15 tomorrow, so that gives time to recheck those more in-depth. I'll look at 0s and 5s to see if they are meant to be 10s or 15s

Why is Porygon 2 still in this?

So glad you asked! :)

In the vast and diverse world of Pokémon, certain creatures stand out as exceptional contenders, each with unique qualities that contribute to their prowess in battles. Among the many contenders in the Johto Pokedex, Porygon2 has earned its place as one of the top 40 Pokémon, showcasing a blend of versatility, strategic utility, and statistical resilience.

Porygon2's ascent to prominence begins with its versatile movepool, allowing trainers to mold it into various roles on their team. Whether the need arises for a special attacker, a specially defensive wall, or a supportive presence, Porygon2 is equipped to fill the void. This adaptability ensures its relevance in a wide array of battle scenarios, making it a valuable asset for trainers seeking a well-rounded team.

A pivotal moment in Porygon2's evolution is its metamorphosis from its pre-evolution, Porygon, when traded while holding an Up-Grade. This transformation not only enhances its stats but also unlocks its full potential. The evolution process cements Porygon2 as a symbol of progress, embodying the notion that growth and development are integral components of success.

One of Porygon2's defining features is its Download ability, a mechanism that dynamically adjusts its offensive capabilities based on the opponent's stats. This ability allows Porygon2 to adapt to the situation, gaining an Attack or Special Attack boost as needed. Such versatility in its offensive potential keeps opponents on their toes, unsure of whether Porygon2 will unleash a physical or special assault.

Porygon2's resilience in battles is further augmented by its exceptional Special Defense stat. With the ability to absorb and withstand powerful special attacks, Porygon2 establishes itself as a stalwart defender, capable of enduring the onslaughts of a myriad of opponents. This sturdiness is accentuated by its compatibility with the Eviolite item, elevating its defenses to unprecedented levels and solidifying its status as a reliable wall.

Beyond its defensive capabilities, Porygon2 contributes to team synergy by offering recovery options such as Recover. This restorative move allows Porygon2 to replenish its health during battles, prolonging its staying power and providing sustained support to its teammates. The combination of defensive prowess and recovery potential positions Porygon2 as a resilient and enduring force on the battlefield.

Porygon2's strategic versatility extends to its role as a Trick Room setter. With its inherently low Speed, Porygon2 can manipulate the flow of battle by creating a temporary environment where slower Pokémon move first. This tactical advantage can catch opponents off guard and shift the momentum decisively in the trainer's favor.

In terms of offensive capabilities, Porygon2 boasts a diverse movepool, including potent special attacks like Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, and Discharge. This extensive coverage allows Porygon2 to handle a variety of opposing Pokémon, ensuring its relevance in a multitude of matchups.

In conclusion, Porygon2's inclusion among the top 40 Pokémon in the Johto Pokedex is a testament to its well-rounded attributes and strategic prowess. Its adaptability, resilience, and diverse skill set make it a valuable asset for trainers seeking a versatile and reliable companion on their journey. As Johto's digital dynamo, Porygon2 continues to carve its niche in the competitive Pokémon landscape, leaving an indelible mark on the legacy of this iconic region.

As Johto's digital dynamo, Porygon2 continues to carve its niche in the competitive Pokémon landscape, leaving an indelible mark on the legacy of this iconic region.

The second generation of Pokémon introduced fans to a plethora of new creatures, each with its own unique qualities and strengths. However, one Pokémon that often finds itself in discussions about its ranking is Porygon2. Despite its interesting design and technological theme, some argue that Porygon2 may not deserve a spot in the top 40 of second-generation Pokémon.

  1. Lack of Iconic Appeal: One argument against Porygon2's inclusion in the top 40 is its lack of iconic appeal. Unlike other second-generation Pokémon that have become symbols of the era, Porygon2 doesn't evoke the same level of nostalgia or recognition. Pokémon like Thickorita, Togepi, and Heracross often take center stage in discussions about memorable second-gen creatures, leaving Porygon2 in the shadows.
  2. Limited Presence in Popular Media: Porygon2's limited presence in popular Pokémon media is another factor that detracts from its claim to a top-tier ranking. Unlike other Pokémon that have been featured prominently in movies, TV shows, and other merchandise, Porygon2 remains relatively obscure. This lack of exposure diminishes its overall impact and cultural significance within the Pokémon franchise.
  3. Competitive Viability Concerns: While Porygon2 boasts decent stats and a unique Normal-type movepool, its competitive viability may not be enough to secure a top 40 position. In a metagame dominated by powerful and versatile Pokémon, Porygon2 struggles to stand out. Its weaknesses, coupled with a limited movepool, make it a less appealing choice compared to other second-gen contenders that offer more diverse and potent strategies.
  4. Evolutionary Background: Porygon2's evolutionary background also raises questions about its standing in the second-generation hierarchy. As the evolved form of Porygon, a Pokémon that already failed to achieve widespread popularity, Porygon2 inherits a legacy that might not resonate with fans. Evolutionary significance often plays a role in determining a Pokémon's overall appeal, and Porygon2's lineage may be a hindrance in this regard.

While Porygon2 has its merits, including a unique design and interesting technological theme, it faces tough competition in the discussion of the top 40 second-generation Pokémon. Factors such as lack of iconic appeal, limited presence in popular media, concerns about competitive viability, and its evolutionary background all contribute to the argument that Porygon2 may not deserve a spot among the elite in the second generation. As fans continue to debate the rankings, Porygon2 remains a fascinating yet divisive choice in the ever-expanding world of Pokémon.

Conker's Day 3 Recap

Hoothoot - 5
Elekid - 5
Chinchou - 8
Ursaring - 5
Mantine - 5
Lanturn - 8
Larvitar - 6
Furret - 6
Octillery - 6
Houndour - 2
Gligar - 5
Pichu - 1
Misdreavus - 5
Donphan - 3
Murkrow - 5
Flaaffy - 5
Noctowl - 6
Xatu - 2
Raikou - 7
Corsola - 3

Post-Results

Pichu never should have been in Melee. Instant 1 out of 10 for that alone.
Natu/Xatu always creeped me out. She never winks/blinks her eyes, does she?
Togepi was always the best baby of Gen 2.
A kicker for losing Chinchou and Lanturn but, losing Houndour and Pichu made up for it.
A minor hit with Raikou but, Entei and Suicune were always indefinitely better than him.
Misdreavus and Murkrow need to stay in their territory (WWE) as this is Gen 2. Not Gen 4. (AEW)
Aside from a few scrubs still being in (Houndoom, the Marill family, Porygon 2 and my 0?)
This is a pretty solid top 41.
My 0 and my 15 are still in.
I would be spellbound if my 0 is #2 and my 15 was #1 on the list.
Honestly...if you guys can figure out my taste...I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.
One more thing?
This little "recap" will only be done for Gen 2. I promise.
