Long term labor shortage in Vermont!

Did you read the article?

Yes, but I was hoping someone that has lived or currently lives in Vermont would shed a bit more light. The article only mentioned one company that offers relocation assistance, and while I'm sure there are other companies in Vermont that offer this, there was a whole section of that article dedicated to immigration. That signals to me that there are companies would prefer cheap labor and the article really serves to amplify the voices of companies there and not so much the workers.

Vermont used to have relocation assistance but funding has run out since. Rent in "urban " areas like Burlington and Montpelier will be little high; around $18-$20/hr would be a liveable wage in those areas. That being said, the biggest industries in Vermont are probably farming, forestry, and tourism. There are some computer companies and financial services companies/lawfirms, but otherwise the job market in Vermont can be meh.

Thank you for this insight! Strange as it might sound, yesterday Vermont randomly crossed my mind. I started looking at the homes for sale there and they all had that rustic farmhouse look and it did not invoke any joy. I'm a simple guy and I don't need a whole lot of amenities, I also love nature and Vermont is nature heaven, ugly infrastructure aside. As long as the food is decent in a state and the area I'm in won't become a warzone anytime soon, I'm fine.
