This is the song I keep going back to. That just leaves me on the floor. It’s one of those songs like Strawberry Fields Forever, that it’s even difficult to talk about, but it’s a kind of dream pop and it’s creating a dream. It keeps on shifting like a dream; this extreme willingness to admit her passion for her lover’s kiss, harkening back to an earlier America when things seemed much simpler but the music is complex and it all comes together. And then there’s 7 more minutes of it where it becomes weirder. You’re always longing for the earlier more melodic part to come back…and it never does. It just makes you want to have to listen to it again. That’s my favorite album by her.

Producer Rick Rubin on HIADTFAWLMTH — BIHI

Quote

It makes me cry. Every time I hear it, it makes me cry. The power of the lyrics, "Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have," is such a radical line. I think her strength is that she paints this world that is clearly an illusory world — it’s not a palpable, real reality that she’s talking about. Yet, we can have this emotional connection of these personal stories in the context of this dream world. It’s odd: Why would something so dreamy reach us in such a personal way?

(On the song’s production)
It’s how ordinary it is; she does very traditional songwriting. The way that it’s written — other than the lyrics — are very traditional. The lyrics are what makes it super modern.

Did the Ride producer spill?

So her worst song is his favourite?

Also when is Lana going to go back making great music again? It has been so long since she released Norman rockwell and then dipped. I missed her so much :dancehall3:

we should just face the fact that norman was an anomaly in her career since she hasn’t been able to release an album half as good

Venice is overrated. Hope is a dangerous thing on the other hand, doesn’t get enough praise. It’s great the other guy chose it.
