It's "faithfully" base on the cartoon  series so either way, you're good.

It's a remake of the cartoon so you won't miss anything besides comparisons to it.

 

Should really watch the cartoon either way. It's only 3 seasons so easy to get through. It's one of the best shows of all time, for kids and adults alike.

 

Even if by some fluke this live action remake is actually good, it'll never never be able to fully capture the magic of the original.

It’s a live action version. So same story and characters. But you should watch Avatar cuz it’s the best show ever made. Not even exaggerating
