I want you to know the way that countries have applied foreign pressure for centuries is by sanctions and boycotting of their products. Movies are not being released in Russia (Including the Renaissance film) due to the war they've started in Ukraine that the US is funding billions of dollars in support of. Even the new Mortal Kombat (owned by Warner Bros) did not release in Russia. It's not fair to the fans, but it's things like this that add pressure to the government to change. Civil unrest is the best way to convince your govt to change.

Y'all sitting here saying "Who cares" and "What about the fans" when in reality, even a Beyoncé concert film can make some type of waves (and things like this have historically helped).

Beyoncé should pull the movie from Israel. If she pulled the movie from US and UK cinemas or other countries complicit in this-- even better.

Yeah, because that’s really made the Russian government come to their senses

Oh right, defending themselves from fake claims of beheaded babies and fire cracker "bombings" at school entrances.

Not here for racists with an agenda hiding behind Beyonce. The movie theater isn't a government entity. This isn't a screening for the top IDF soldier. And despite how I feel, a civilian of any nation is just that. They have no control over the wars their government chooses to fund. So drop the agenda to incite hate speech over a damn pop star.

You’re speaking to a civilian in Israel right now. I have a friend from high school held hostage by a terror organisation right now after 2 of his friends were murdered in a peace party. This is not an agenda or fake news dumb ass

Defending what exactly? Palestine is not your country colonist. Israeli propaganda machine is working overtime. Where are the images of all those murdered Israelis? Where are the images of the funerals? Something just isn't right.

The images were circulated during and after October 7, don’t be stupid :rip: Although most of the casualties were indeed IDF soldiers

As someone who is pro-Palestine and didn't have a issue with this, or much of an opinion on this story at all, really. I didn't think of it in this way until your post because I thought, it's just a movie, who cares ? my issue is with the israeli Gov. and Zionism. I wasn't cognizant of the fact that certain movies were intentionally being withheld from Russia. Also appreciate you even posting this as a Bey stan when you could have easily kept your blindfolders on as so many do when it comes to their fav. artists. You helped changed my stance on this.

Thank you, and it's cause there's things bigger than Beyoncé and movies. I actually do believe that sanctions only end up hurting the civilians who are innocent and have no say in what their country is doing, but the double standard against Russia is glaring. I don't think any big blockbuster was released in Russia and if it does, there is TREMENDOUS backlash. Unfortunately Israel is on the country of origin's side so all the atrocities, war crimes and violations are okay because the US said so.

I think if this movie specifically was still being shown in Russia, it wouldn't be that big of an issue and I can agree with what some people are saying, but it isn't.

I hope Bey at least blocks it from being shown in Israel, but unfortunately I don't think she will.

Rich people only care about money, most of the time even when they do activism it's just performative and because that topic is widely accepted by the gp so the chances it could cost them anything are less than 10%.

There are some famous people with strong morality, but beyonce ain't one of them for sure. You only view her as one because of BLM but as i said before it would have hurt her career more if she hadn't said anything.

Was Eras Tour shown in Israel? Did people have the same reactions? I have’t seen the thread so i don’t know.

Personally, not releasing a movie won’t change anything. It’s just punishing fans who might not have voted for Netanyahu or are against this senseless violence.

Civilian of Israel and you're proud of that? A fake country built on genocide, by US and UK money?

I tell you this: I live in Portugal, where Jewish and Arab people were kicked out off around 2000 years ago. Today, out of those, only Jewish people have the right to return and get a passport here. Personally, I think that is right for Jewish people and this right should also be afforded to the Arabs that wish to return.  That's what should be happening in Palestine, not the existence of Israel.

You call Palestinian resistance 'terrorism' right? Now consider this: if the US and the UK ordered a ******* country to be built on top of mine, forcing me and my family BY BLOOSHED out of our homes and created and apartheid system that discriminated us and removed our rights to exist, you bet I would pick up a gun and would join a rebelion against said state and the colonisers that live in it. You ******* bet.

In that situatuon, I couldnt give two shits if you called me a terrorist. You know who also was called terrorists? Nelson Mandela who simply fought for South African liberation. Jomo Kenyatta, who fought against German and British enslavement of Kenyans. Martin Luther King. Even the ******* Suffragettes in the UK were labelled terrorists.

Get some perspective about your little 'country'. Like Rhodesia, it will end.

So no, **** Beyonce and any artist who willingly shows or performs their art in Israel.
