Beyoncé potentially showcasing Renaissance Film in Israel

The film is being shown in America as well. Do we think she should pull the film here considering all the atrocities the USA has committed?

I swear to god people in this thread are so ******* stupid like I don’t know if you know this but a huge global star like Beyoncé pulling out of a business venture in Israel is a big deal

also like are y’all so dumb that you lack the capability to send a single email to Beyonces team while simultaneously calling your elected officials and donating money to Palestinian causes and going out into the streets? Like is it that hard? Cuz lemme tell y’all I’ve called all my elected officials and it takes me 5 minutes to leave a message for all three

I’m trying to understand what the civilians watching a film have to do with a government…………..

I’m actually scared to be human some days

These people making the celebrities responsible of everything that’s going wrong in the world… it’s mind blowing

dude, big businesses stopped functioning in Russia and that didn’t stop Putin from continuing to do what he did. Do you really think the government cares about a film that won’t sell more than a few thousands of tickets?

People really want to drag Bey huh. It most likely isn’t going to be released there. I’m not for everyone being punished because Israel government is bad.

US is funding that genocide with your money so you can look at yourselves first.

I wonder if the Iraq war was going on now if stan Twitter would call on musicians to not tour the U.S. and the UK.

Mind you the Afghanistan War ended just 2 years ago.

No thread for this?

Y’all, we all know I would happily call out Beyoncé on questionable behavior, but I feel like this is not the hill to die on.  It would be much MUCH more useful for people to start putting pressure on their elected officials than to put pressure on a pop star showing a movie.  It’s a bit odd for people to expect pop stars to all have nuanced and committed stances on global political affairs.  Honestly it all feels performative and distracts from the genocide taking place.

Now I do think it would be different if she traveled to Israel for a performance or if this is being screened in the occupied West Bank (which it might?).  Those are things that would change the analysis for me.

Haha, maybe we should be expecting all pop stars to boycott the US entirely for their support of this genocide.

I wonder if it was set to be screened in Gaza if you would be writing a letter in protest, given that the governing authority is still holding 240+ innocent people hostage, or if your arbitrary standard of punishing citizens of a country is only imputed on the one Jewish state in the world :/

So are we punishing the Israeli gov or the Israeli population?

Centering your protest of Israel around a Beyoncé concert movie being screened there is just one example of stan twitter activism being a joke.

CATCH IT :clap3:

That's... Not good.

Yea, this is such a bad faith attack and ridiculous. The actions of the Israeli government does not represent all Jewish people, just as the US government stance on this does not represent the stance of all US citizens.

An entire country's populace should not be blamed or retaliated against for their government's actions and policy stance.

Stop using these delicate issues to drag artists

Beyonce showing her movie there has absolutely nothing to do with what The west and israel gov are doing to Palestinians

It has zero impact on the war going on there

I don't see how citizens should be the ones punished but go off.

Also, very on brand for Twitter to be worried about a ******* concert movie when people are dying.

Stans are such a joke, especially the one in the OP with the email template. Beyoncé herself knows it’s going to show in Israel. Them saying it isn’t her brand like her and her team didn’t agree on it.

Just delusional
