Quote The plaintiff, a former Academy member who lives in New York and was 37 years old at the time of the allegation, according to the suit, alleged that she met Portnow in January 2018 at a Grammy event. By June, after Portnow had allegedly reached out and said he’d be in New York again, she met him at the Kitano Hotel to conduct an interview for her magazine. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/former-grammys-ceo-neil-portnow-rape-accusation-lawsuit-1234872229/ Quote In the lawsuit, the woman, described as an internationally known musician who once played at Carnegie Hall, said she met Portnow in early 2018 and had set up a meeting to interview him at his hotel in New York City later that year. She said he gave her something to drink at the meeting that made her intermittently lose consciousness and that he then proceeded to assault her. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/nov/08/grammys-neil-portnow-sexual-assault-lawsuit Remember after the 2018 Grammy Awards, Neil Portnow said the women who want to be part of the industry need to "step up." He still didn't resign then and his replacement who wanted to clean things up was sacked. There must have been a lot of people in the Grammys that knew about this incident. Quote Word of the allegations first came to light in 2020, after Portnow had stepped down. His successor, Deborah Dugan, was ousted after mere months and spoke of the accusation against him in filing a complaint against the Academy. https://fortune.com/2023/11/08/ex-grammy-ceo-lawsuit-sexual-assualt/ No wonder they paid her a $8 million settlement. Quote Deborah Dugan raised a red flag over all this skullduggery and was summarily ousted; her subsequent silence was arranged with an $8m settlement. https://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=333249
