I do t believe a single thing Katy says. Remember when she did this crap?

I mean PRISM was a way more mature record from her, especially the latter half.

The album in general was half fun pop, half break up record and this video was just meant to signify the departure of Teenage Dream, a fully pop dance record, was not what PRISM was going to be.

It’s also worth noting PRISM was meant to be less fun pop than what it was and Capitol was not having it. It’s well documented that Katy was pissed that Unconditionally was being overshadowed by Dark Horse as she wanted a more mature era.

I hope she’s being serious and doesn’t end up serving this instead…

probably. I feel like she is one of the few artists that can her a massive hit again. Maybe the gp doesn't buy her albums anymore but if she does it right with her singles, she can get a smash.

She needs to do a rebrand though. Her fans are all in their late 20s/early 30s. The Teenage Dream/Prism aesthetics don't work anymore

Teenage Dream was fine. There’s nothing wrong with Teenage Dream (song)‘s video, ET, Firework, etc.

CG and LFN were immature but still very much enjoyed by adults as they still had sexy undertones in her styling and outfits.

It wasn’t until Prism that her image and videos became catered to youth with comedic kiddish stuff like Roar, DH, Birthday, and TIHWD which were all like straight up terrible

Oh she‘s teasing a SMASH :jonny5:

Of course she will remain being a flop and monsters here saying “she’s gonna get a hit” are just jinxing her. Katy has not the range to sell sex in her music and her team still believe it’s 2010, there’s no way anything good could result on this. Let’s be real :rip:

We dont need Sex. When artists go sexual is a flop and they get backlash.
We need Sexy and Maturer but with a quirky touch. :gaycat4:

I hope she leans more into her CRJ-esque tendencies (Harleys in Hawaii, 365, Tucked, Never Really Over) and makes no attempt to make radio-ready mainstream pop (Hey Hey Hey) again, because she has a lot of potential.

I'm not really getting the whole "she can't sell sex" thing. She is literally sex personified. She just needs to sell it well. I remember everyone in 2010 thirsting for her like pls be fr

Not a bad direction as sexy and fun is what people want and expect when they turn on Katy Perry. I just hope that sex will be more present in the vibe (e.g. HIH) than the lyrics. If she decides to give us another song about sex with food metaphors (e.g. Bon Appetit) it's over.

Let's hope she doesn't leave bops like Walking On Air, Legendary Lovers, or Roulette unreleased as singles.

It's still my headcanon that she's done everything to sabotage the rest of the PRISM era because of this. :toofunny3:

Idk, I was in high school when TD came out and I remember feeling like her image had already gone very soft compared to her OOTB image. She was like a cool scene girl at first, then by TD era I felt like I was outgrowing her

She better serve soft porn music videos and moaning on every song... otherwise she can keep it, and continue to threaten us to call her a flop...

If Meghan Trainor could get a hit again.. it is possible for sure :cm:

That's just it though, it's not 2010 anymore. Who benefits from Katy selling sex in 2024? What audience does it cater to? Will that audience support her music? She's also a mother now, and not everyone is as accepting of a 40-year-old mother embracing their sexuality as a 20-something desirable pop starlet. Not my personal opinion, just the way things are still unfortunately.

She tried selling sex with Bon Appétit. Didn't work. She tried selling sex with When I'm Gone. Didn't work. She wasn't even really good at it in the 2010's, it's just that she was so undeniably hot that people could overlook all of the terrible food metaphors and innuendos because of the glow of a pop icon in their imperial phase. Remember "Milk Milk Lemonade"? That is not sexy.

Katy's biggest flaw has always been the huge breaks she takes between album cycles. Two years between OOTB and TD (which would have been longer had Katy's debut dropped in 2005-2007 as originally intended), 3 years between TD and PRISM, 4 years between PRISM and Witness, another 3 years between Witness and Smile, and 4+ years between Smile and whenever KP6 drops, if it is indeed dropping next year. It worked during Teenage Dream when she was able to sustain the era with 6 singles + a further 2 singles from a re-release, but PRISM had only 5 (the final's chart run concluding about a year following the album drop), and Witness and Smile 3 (none of which were particularly successful at that). She doesn't have the kind of unwavering sleeper cell support from the GP like an artist such as Adele or possibly Rihanna will have if and when she decides to drop an album.
