She has grown that obviously but ngl her not even debuting in the H100 top 10 with a lead single during record low points is kinda underwhelming

If you’ve been on this forum for a while, you know that Dua plays the long game. Her singles debut modestly then build and sometimes reach streaming peaks many months later.

Y’all… really expected a huge debut for her just cause of FN? Why? 

 

DTN, Potion, Demeanor, Cold Heart and all the other droplets did not have impressive debuts either. Where was she going to start pulling #1 debuts from? 

 

On top of that, people are saying she needs a FN bop but others are saying this is just a FN rehash, and it’s both a bop but also sounds nothing like FN. She won’t ever please you people so she might as well continue to do what she wants and deliver musically. 

 

Some of you need to just go stan Jack Harlow or something since you base your opinions of a song solely on its chart performance (in less than a week )

I think many were expecting her to enter her imperial phase coming from FN, like to debut straight to #1, which also kinda means the fan base didn’t grow that much and the GP is not caring that much

In the current musical climate, with billboard points being at an all time low… a pop star of Dua’s caliber, especially following an era as large as FN, should easily be able to debut in the top 10. Or at least reach #1 on ITunes, which Houdini wasn’t able to do either. I think it just shows that Dua has yet to build a real, dedicated fan base yet in the states. Which is fine, but it is what it is.

Anyone expecting a smash right out the gate was fooling themselves, not to mention the US HATES her type of music, literally the country with the worst taste in the world. Need I remind everyone we needed DaBaby just to get a 2nd major hit out of FN? 

 

FN did well enough in the states but it’s success was carried by the world, not the US. Only DSN and Levitating smashed hard here. They’re never going to care that much about her here unless she starts dating a football player and has a scandal or something. It’s time to stop caring about debuts and just let the music speak for itself.

Who even really cares if it ends up a #11 debut. Billboard is scum anyways most of the time with all this bs music charting at #1 there. Just look at those hideous racist country singles, those random BTS releases. #11 is a good start regardless and we know Dua is a slow burner.

? Dua literally sold out around 30 arenas in the US just one year ago. She has a fanbase there obviously. Perhaps people just didn't love this song at first which is fine too. Not everything has to be a top 10 debut and you know this too. There's plenty of artists, like Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, etc. that still score huge hits but also don't debut top 10 and that is fine.

I was always curious if her tour was so successful because people just wanted to go to concerts after the pandemic or if it was truly because people wanted to see her. And then I saw the concert and the way people reacted to and knew every song, and people really connected with that album.

 

we will have to see how Houdini and the new album connects.

I don't get the DSN comparisons, that song needed multiple amazing live performances and some months before this forum started 'liking it' and finally calling it a hit. It hasn't even been a week yet, the dramatics are tiring

Oh not me. DSN was an instant classic & immediately debuted at #1 on my personal Hot 100
