More Than A Melody Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 She was very in love with my man, according to the vault songs, so I give her a 10/10, personally (didn't listen to the album, just read the lyrics). I'll work on making it count for Metacritic. 5

Tbh every time I listen to a TV song it sound significantly worse (production wise) it’s like the soul is gone. I think it’s because she’s not working with original producers Imagine if Beyoncé re-recorded I Am Sasha Fierce and critics suddenly gave it a 90. That’d make about as much sense as these Taylor albums getting rave reviews 6 1

It’s giving her new hype and not a reflection of the material Cultural context and respect for pop music. As stated in the RS article, even Pitchfork reviewed the album years after it came out (they reviewed a cover album before the actual album). Most pop records would probably get a higher review now. 1

It’s giving her new hype and not a reflection of the material Because her albums have lasted the test of time. You guys don’t respect that people listen to her catalogue exponentially more than her peers but it’s a reflection of how much more timeless albums like Speak Now and Red are in comparison to albums like Femme Fatale, Bangerz, Artpop or Prism. The critic scores of the TVs are just reflections of the albums holding up so well even in their new replicated iterations. 4

Because she stamps these albums and she doesn't have time to think about re-recording taking into account world tours and new albums. And with each re-record, she feels that she is wildly tired and you can hear it in her voice. Also, some instrumentals sound very cheap, as if they are free karaoke versions from YouTube. That’d make about as much sense as these Taylor albums getting rave reviews No, it's not. There are plenty of albums throughout history that get middling/good reception at first but go on to get huge retroactive acclaim. Some are even panned at first and end up acclaimed masterpieces 1989 and Red got good reviews, pretty typical for good/decent pop albums back then. But those 2 are her most acclaimed and beloved albums of the stolen albums by far. As long as the re-recordings weren't absolutely butchered they were going to be massively acclaimed

Digitalism Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 The original it's still superior and there's no review that's changing that Watch this get bad reviews from her fans and then the critics giving bad scores to reputation because of that
