not you comparing a cisgendered straight women’s advocacy for gay rights directly to the struggle of what it was like to actually be openly gay in the 1980’s during one of the biggest moral panics surrounding queer people we’ve ever seen  Elton coming out in the 90’s played a pivotal role for the acceptance of gays in the mainstream just like Madonna’s support as a straight woman did in the 80’s.

Not gay people (who weren't even born back then) sh!tting on Madonna's advocacy and trying to brush her bisexuality aside to suit their petty stan war agenda.

Isaac Mizrahi confirmed there was a love triangle between Madonna, Ingrid Casares and Sandra Berhnard in the clip below. He also said the same thing to Andy Cohen. Aside from that, Madonna has been linked to a string of Lesbians as well as straight men. She also had a fling with Jenny Smimizu (dancer on the Girl Show).

 

 

Besides, how could those who weren't born back then possibly understand what it was like for the LGB community struggling with homosexuality, acceptance, along with the stigma of the world believing WE were the cause of the AIDS epidemic. Let me tell you, it was disgusting and much harder than what younger gays bemoan about in 2023.

can you point me to where i “sh@t on her advocacy” though? if you read what i said, i actually acknowledged that her advocacy played a hugely pivotal role for the mainstream acceptance of gays, just like Elton’s later full-on coming out did. i would never ever in a million years deny Madonna’s involvement with that, and i didn’t in my post. there must be a misunderstanding on your end to have drawn that conclusion.

 

and i’m not really sure where you’re getting this angle of me being “the younger privileged 2023 gay” and not understanding what it was like during those times when, a) i never claimed that i did, and b) i’m actually the one who is arguing on behalf of how much more stigmatizing it was to be gay in the 80s than it is now? especially for gay men. i understand Madonna has had sexual relations with women before and i don’t intend to diminish that, but at the end of the day she’s only publicly been linked to men when it comes to long-term romantic relationships, so that’s where that was coming from. 
 

and even if we are acknowledging her bisexuality, i still don’t think there would be a direct comparison between the plight of a mostly straight/bi-curious woman and a man openly confirming their sexual and romantic preference being exclusively to other men in the 80s-90s. look no further than the fact that Madonna never had a major “coming out” moment as lesbian or bisexual, whereas celebrities who truly preferred same-sex romantic relationships had to go through public, usually controversial coming out/outing moments during the 80s/90s. and to be clear: i’m not saying she has no plight or that her same-sex relationships during that time had no impact, but it is not the same thing nor should it be compared as such. so yes, there is definitely a false equivalency there.

 

also how can you bring up “petty stan war agendas” in regards to my post but then completely ignore the petty stan post i responded to that started this whole conversation? idk. sorry for the paragraphs but you seem to have misinterpreted my statements and intentions in like every possible way and i just don’t know how else to respond
