Champagne Problems by light-years, it's a lyrical masterpiece. Stay was bigger but that is only logical since it was a single.

BOTH gorgeous and heartfelt

I prefer Stay however, it's overall the better song. Rihanna's delivery and her plead with the piano could make one cry, meanwhile Taylor delivers a pretty much straightforward performance not much in the way of emotion

 

Lyrically, Taylor has much more to say though and she really does know how to paint a picture with words. Stay says exactly what it means. Taylor takes it here 

 

Melodically, Stay is stronger and hits much harder than CP's softer, understated melody. CP also sounds VERY familiar, like another Taylor Swift song from Red? So in that way it doesn't sound original, but I liked the pre-chorus into the chorus.

This line is especially brilliant. Took me a while to realize she's not just playing off of the idea of getting down on a knee to propose to someone. Because, here, the subject is on both "their knees" which implies that they're begging the narrator to stay with them. That subtle play on words is exceptional.
