GlamSlam Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) I see a lot of people giving heeps of praise to the likes of Sam Smith and Lizzo for being body positive and out there, but nobody did it better than DIVINE in 1983! (S)he had it all, the attitude, the confidence, the charisma, and most of all....zero f*cks given. (S)he also was a lovely person, and had a great sense of humour and really knew how to camp it up. She even starred in a few movies such as Hairspray (with Debbie Harry) achieving cult celebrity status. Divine may be gone but (s)he's certainly not forgotten. Another icon worth celebrating... GlamSlam Posted October 20, 2023 Author Posted October 20, 2023 I don't know why she was banned from Top of the Pops after this... 1
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Divine had such a cool speaking voice - I am waiting for a popstar to sample Divine in a song one day. The song I’d love to hear sampled the most is “Female Trouble”. Could be fabulous. 2
PennywiseTheClown Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Pink Flamingos and Female Trouble are among the best films of all time. John Waters and Divine were a godly duo 2
Orsay Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 I remember John Waters talking about her and how she had a really bad weed addiction and would binge eat like insane amounts of junk food Queen! No one will ever do it like her 2
GlamSlam Posted October 20, 2023 Author Posted October 20, 2023 I still haven't watched the "I am Divine" documentary.... Is it any good?
GlamSlam Posted October 22, 2023 Author Posted October 22, 2023 Finally watched that ^documentary yesterday and really enjoyed it. There was a lot of things I didn't know, tbh. What a star.
