@JonginBey Following Jackson's wonderful writing examples, here are some of my own as additional inspiration for anyone still on the fence of whether to submit or not, or just unsure where to begin:

My first two examples are both inspired by Italy, my third was inspired by my childhood home with some elements written in Spanish, and my last example written earlier this year was inspired by Turkey.

Fun fact: "Positano" and "El Orfanato" were written in the same week for the final challenge of Diamond Hit. 💎

I also wrote a song last year loosely inspired by Pompeii, but that's part of an unreleased project I'm still working on. :matty:

Thank you! I’ll read them asap :foxaylove2:

Hmm, I think I’m getting there, but I might need to sleep on it to be certain!

Will be submitting tomorrow either way :gayorkcat4:

I don’t like what I wrote anymore  too but let me just use this as a learning experience :rip:

I totally get the wish to resubmit an entry.

Just a little piece of advice, sometimes it can help to put the pen tho :)

Can someone post an example? It’s not the most difficult prompt, but I also feel like my song will turn out too basic because of how simple the prompt is idk :gaycatx:

Personally I really prefer simple songs that get to the point and feel nice.

For example like a pop song about someone that is in a relationship but feels numb and no longer appreciated by their significant other.

These berlin nights feel like ice

I no longer see your face

All I feel are flashing lights

This journey makes me want to race

Race away, race to different places

Paris, London and New York City

I travel the world, so you learn to miss me

LA, Tokyo and Mexico City

Wished you'd run after me, it's a pity

While this example could be considered "basic" it still would feel fresh to me and offer a different perspective and would give the opportunity to express deeper emotions.

Hope this helps

I patiently put up with everybody else being late for four whole seasons, it’s MY turn now!

Not the submission count almost doubling since the last time I saw it. Let me get to judging, and if I finish before I leave for work, I might post some early reviews! :celestial5:

OK early reviews have been scrapped due to pre-existing contractual agreements and an NDA I forgot I signed, but I can post some teasers of reviews for the first five submissions! Can you guess who is for who?

"This is my rather long-winded way of saying I loved practically everything about this. The core concept resonated with me on a deeply personal level, and I loved every lyrical device you used."

"I’m always nervous when somebody resubmits an entry that I’ve already given a positive review, but fortunately for you I’m in favor of all of your adjustments."

"This lets the reader know you have forethought and an intent for where the song’s journey may take us."

"Overall this was a very strong start to the season and I am amazed you were able to write something of this caliber so swiftly! Keep this up and you’ll be one to watch."

"A lot of this song was very poetic, and a good amount was also quite conversational, which I found to be an interesting contrast and not something we typically see together."

I feel like I'm either first of fifth and maybe that sounds narcissistic but I just think they're the most fitting!!

Yeah Golden Hit is a very positive game, everything comes from a desire to motivate us to want to keep playing and to constantly improve :celestial:

We certainly try! My reviews so far are quite lengthy since I’ve been able to stagger writing them over a few days, so I really hope everyone gets some good takeaways from them!

So far I’ve been impressed by the output of this round.

+1 what @Aurora said!

I also want to mention ahead of time that unless I give a song a perfect 10, I always try to point out at least one thing I like and one thing to improve on or try differently - so the % of my review that's positive or critical doesn't necessarily correlate to the score I give a song. My goal is always to provide helpful (optional) advice

we won't penalize you if you're a bit late - generally as long as you can submit before judging and scoring is finalized we'll accept it but keep us updated if you anticipate being more than a few hours late

I get off of work at 11PM PST :biblionny: If you guys don’t hear from me for the rest of the night, then safe to say I won’t submit this round.

oof that schedule :jonny: i know at least @fountain is submitting tomorrow, so if you have time tomorrow that would be fine tbh. you can also just wait for R2 if you don't have the time/energy this week
