Castaways, welcome to the third challenge of Survivor: ATRL Edition (Season 14)!

The highest scorer on each tribe will receive immunity. Let’s get started!

The theme for Round 3 is...

Learned to Love Myself

"My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes"

This round, we are throwing away our cosmetics, clout-chasing fashion, and plastic surgery! We are looking for songs that show the narrator calling out and rejecting society's beauty/lifestyle standards, and embracing the way they are. The song should be layered in is unconditional self-love and acceptance, with the narrator showing an intentional awareness that their worth is not dictated by other people.

What To Do:
Once your song is selected, PM both of the hosts the artist and title of your song on Discord in our group DM. You don't have to include a link to the song unless you are sending a specific version of it. There's no explanation needed as your song should speak for itself. If your song requires an explanation to make sense, it's not a good fit.

There are many of you playing this game. You guys are bound to submit the same songs at some point and because no one can occupy the same song, we encourage you to send a back-up choice along with your first pick. This applies especially to those who are not around when a round is posted and don't have the luxury of choosing an instant track.

IMPORTANT NOTE: ONCE YOU SEND A SONG THAT IS AVAILABLE, YOUR CHOICE IS LOCKED AND YOU MAY NOT SWITCH. AGAIN, YOU CANNOT SWITCH SONGS. WE HAVE DISCORD PHONE NOTIFICATIONS TURNED ON SO WE WILL SEE IF YOU TRY TO DELETE AND CHANGE AND YOU WILL FLOP LIKE KAYSERI. IF SOMEONE TAKES YOUR SONG FIRST, THAT IS WHEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SUBMIT A NEW ONE, SO PLEASE SUBMIT A BACK-UP.

Take Into Consideration:
The panel will judge the audio/lyrics of the track you submit. Music videos will not increase or decrease your score as some music video plots differ from a song's true meaning.

The theme is what is important here. You will not receive a low score because you sent in a song one of the judges does not like. Taste will at the most be the difference between an 8.5 or a 9. We will never dock off multiple points based off mere preference.

The song you choose should display the meaning upfront. An interview with your artist clarifying the meaning of the song will not be taken into consideration.

Judging Scale (May Vary By Judge):
9/10 – Great entry. Track displays the theme given head on.
8 – Good entry. Displays theme well but not as well as others.
7 – Okay entry. Fits decently but is missing something overall.
6 – Somewhat tackles the theme but falls flat.
5 – Track mentions theme but is otherwise off–base.
3/4 – Song does not hit the theme given besides a line or two.
1/2 – Song has to do with a completely different subject than the theme.

We will supply an example for each round for you all to take inspiration from. Obviously no one can select this song as their entry.

The example this round is R&B classic, "Video" by India.Arie:

This is an incredibly detailed proclamation of self-love, which she reaffirms multiple times: for example, stating that "my creator didn't make no mistakes on me" and that she is a "queen" focused on "whatever feels good in her soul". She rejects a plethora of societal standards, including the body image of women in music videos, the price of clothing, fancy drinks, expensive cars, silicone, etc. -- it's a very in-depth list! She knows that her self-worth can not and will not be impacted by the "misconception" and "illusion" of what others preach as acceptable.

_______________________________________________________

All three tribes will be going to tribal council this round.

As always, the top scorer will earn immunity... but perhaps they won't be the only one?? Something spooky is coming just in time for Halloween... more details to come...

Your song submissions are due in ~23.5 hours (6 PM ET) on Tuesday, October 31st.

Good luck and please let the hosts know if you have any questions!

This season is all about magic, and we wanted to bring a pillar of magic into this: illusions. Illusions are images that deceive the mind by producing a false impression of reality.

As we said before, all three tribes will be attending Tribal Council and will be voting someone to leave within those tribes. However, not all people voted out will actually be voted out.

Here’s how it will work: each tribe will vote someone out, and we’ll announce the votes of the tribes that are not safe. One tribe will receive immunity, based on the scores. If that tribe is safe, their votes will not be read.

In addition, if a tribe ends up at Tribal Council and votes for the person on the tribe with the highest average in the round, who therefore received immunity, then any votes cast for that person will be negated and the person with the next highest votes will be voted out.

Votes are due at 9:30 PM EST tomorrow. You will cast your vote on Discord via the same DM you use to send your songs. Please don't forget to include a bootlist because, if you don't vote, you'll incur a self-vote. Otherwise, everyone is at risk…until tomorrow night. Good luck!
