I hope 2024 is a blowout election not for either party in particular but for younger interests. It's becoming increasingly obvious that the young are not tolerating America's capitalistic BS anymore.

Now use the same energy to advocate for these wealthy people to repay their debt. Quickly! :gaycat3:

For reall all this money suddenly coming from

nowhere

When it comes to tax breaks, loopholes, and government handouts for rich people, they'll always make money pop out of thin air. It's when the money could be utilized to improve the lives of middle and working class people that budget constraints suddenly become a concern.

The Federal Government of the US quite literally has the ability to just create more money out of thin air for any policy they see fit. Why do you think each year the American Congress just passes funding in the billions of dollars for the US Military as if it's as simple as changing some numbers on a screen? Because it is basically as simple as changing some numbers on a screen.

They can do this because the debt is essentially uncollectable. Businesses can go into bankruptcy, and get the  loan discharged. People with student loans can go into bankruptcy, but it is very difficult to get the student loan debt discharged.

And whose decision was that?

It was part of the 1976 Amendment to the Higher Education Act of 1965.  Despite a Government Accounting Office study that showed government backed student loans having a high default rate(18%), less than 1% were discharged in bankruptcy. Congress disregarded the findings, and added the restrictions. It was a solution to a perceived problem that didn't actually exist.

He has, for millions of people. Sadly, there are still so many who need help.

This is a good thing. Now reverse the forgiveness for the members of Congress and other wealthy people who took advantage of the program.

As they should! The lockdowns destroyed business for millions of people and they should be paid back in full for the losses and loans they were forced to incur.

Not the same as student loans where no one forced anyone to rack up 100k in debt for a useless degree (or worse, no degree). You borrowed it willingly and knowingly (hello promissory note!), its' not right to not pay those back.

Yea, and the owners of the business are not financially liable to pay any of the business’ debt if it goes bankrupt either.  It’s insane that this loophole works for businesses but for avg people, you’re screwed.

The government DOES NOT have infinite money. If the money printed is not backed by GDP, it will lead to inflation. We already witnessed it when they gave those checks and loans in 2020 and 2021. Now we need strict fiscal policy for the rest of the decade otherwise the importance of dollar decreases worldwide.

?

Inflation has largely subsided. The current holes in the economy are due to the lack of revenue due to a lack of new taxes Biden completely failed by not undoing the Trump tax cuts and running on "no new taxes".

Answer my question:

Why do you think each year the American Congress just passes funding in the billions of dollars for the US Military as if it's as simple as changing some numbers on a screen?

We are definitely suffering consequences of that too, with inflation.
