Life Savers Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Along with Charles Lee Ray, THEE Michael Myers is kind of the most enduring, influential ghoulie in the horror industry. He debuted with back to back smashes in 1978/1981. Close to Madonna's Madonna/Like a Virgin success, both influential in their fields. He had a bit of slowdown in the early 90s but then came back with an acclaimed smash, like Madonna with Ray of Light. He had some modest success around the same time as Hard Candy with remakes. And then he came back stronger when people thought he was over with recent smashes in 2018, 2021, 2022 So is Michael the Madonna of the Main Horror Ghoulies? Discuss.
dumbsparce Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Never saw the appeal tbh. What about this creature warrants 1382 reboots and 384882 movies?
Aristede Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Sure. He is constantly reinventing himself like Madonna with all these different timelines.

It's a pure personification of evil. Doesn't need to talk, doesn't need to have a kinda of motivation, doesn't need an humanization. He just killed his family as a child for no reason. There is any kinda of metaphor, social meaning like in other horror movies. This Is why the First movie Is very fascinating to me. Then yeah of course anything deserves 350 sequels. venuss Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 He was interesting for a bit. Not anymore and it shows. Ghostface? Now that’s a relevant icon.

Any random nobody can put on that costume and call themselves Ghostface. There is only one Michael. That makes him special.

No wonder the DEMAND remains there, unlike some other ghouls.
Euterpe Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Madonna is an expensive restaurant you'd pay a lot of money to eat at. Michael is McDonald's. There's a lot of it, and you'd pay a small amount to eat there, but it's not special, and it's overdone. I'd say they're not alike at all.
Bears01 Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 I’d have to agree, iconic groundbreaking debuts, then irrelevancy in the early 90’s, then a smash comeback in the late 90’s
Maroonx Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 LOL yes, just like Michael, Madonna will never die
DiamondHoe Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Michael is actually bigger than madonna his 2018,2021, and 2022 releases we much bigger than anything Madge has done since 2008! longevity legend! Spoiler Tho I suppose that’s kinda inevitable when u have l 4 different timelines going on 1
Oktober Knight Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Like Madonna, he refuses to die and will never stop serving. A KING!
Phonography Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 I feel Iike the success of the saga is more tied to JLC than Michael, has he ever found success without her? Jason and Freddy are more known imo
