I don’t think duolingo is good for learning a language, I’m actually surprised so many people are still using it. To learn a language you need to understand why words are pronounced like that, why grammar structures are like that etc. it’s like math. That’s why for Polish I would just suggest finding a course book for beginners and learn from that + italki for occasional help and conversation + some polish media like YouTube channels I guess I can recommend some later but I’ll have to think about it

that'd be helpful, thank you! I've been listening to Meri Spolski :gaycat:

I get your point about duolingo but I'm from Central Europe originally so Polish is similar to my native language, a lot of the grammar feels very familiar. I think duolingo was good for vocabulary and it's a good starting point, but yeah it has run stale and I need to graduate to something else.

I would love to learn Spanish, it's been an interest of mine for many years now I'm just lazy :dies: I started using duo lingo and I'm almost on a month streak of learning basic words.

As someone pointed out it may not be the best for understanding the structure of language, but I feel like I already have a basic understanding. I also feel like it shares a lot of very similar words with English which helps a lot.

Spanish for sure, then French if it didn't feel impossible :toofunny3:

I already speak 6 languages. I'd like to add an international one like French or Spanish.

I’m learning Spanish and then gonna do Swedish.

Tried Swedish once already but whenever I go to Sweden and start speaking to them they just automatically switch to English :toofunny2:

I've been learning Czech the past year and got up to B2 after spending a couple of months in Prague, but that's because I speak other Slavic languages :gayorkcat4: I would love to learn a south Slavic language and something completely different like Japanese or even Kazakh since I'm really interested in central Asia

I was learning Korean for a couple of years about 7 or so ago. I had a coworker when I worked in food service who came from Seoul who was teaching me so we could talk **** about the customers. I would like to go back to learning that, but it's a lot of work to pick up another language and I am too lazy to seek it out without having her here to be the one to expose myself to the language more beyond changes to digital things.

French and Turkish are on my list atm.

Also wanna perfect my Polish lmao. Being from Eastern Slovakia I feel like I have it much easier than other Slavic girlies since our regional dialect feels closer to Polish than standard Slovak. :gaycat:

I wish I had Irish. It's so poorly taught that barely anyone outside the Gaeltachts has it, despite being a compulsory subject in primary and secondary schools. Not to mention the government's efforts to revitalise it have mostly fallen flat. I'm still trying to learn it on Duolingo.

I would also like to learn one of the Scandinavian languages, i.e. Swedish or Norwegian. Danish, Icelandic and Finnish are apparently much harder.
