this is the worst Katy era so far comercially speaking, but it's her best album for sure...ppl need to wake up and give her those streams

No. This album sounds very flat and the melodies and lyrics are very weak.

This doesn't even make sense. The Cure did 80K in 5 days and 19 hours. Bon Appétit, released the same month, did 17K (?) In 7 days.

Monsters and Kats are here trying it obviously ever since 2013. Nothing new or surprising.

Not really a fair comparison though.

.......sis but those songs were not singles or anything, so why would u think someone wouldnt buy the album bc of 2 songs that are experimental (+ they dont know it until they buy the album) and they are not even experimental...lmfao

and u listen to Björk sis, u should know that u shouldnt use the word experimental so loosely

Why are you backtracking your original statement?

you said the album is not experimental except for (insert contradictory statement)

what's experimental for you may be a different experimental for me but is going out of our comfort zones is still experimental. This is POP music after all. They are TRACKS on the #1 Experimental Album Witness by Katy Perry

You guy's standards are trash af. GAGA at one point was the biggest star in the world... now she's just apart of the bunch barely beating someone like Katy Perry.  You're defending GAGA against Katy perry. Yikes what went wrong?

but if Katy won over Gaga by a hairline y'all be saying Katy still in the game while Gaga is over..

Like Rihanna can't even cross 200k yet she's not "over".. cause yeah I know she's got a lil hit singles...

the double standards to Gaga's success is just absurd.. like y'all been saying she's OVER.. and we monsters accepted that she isn't at her prime already.. yet here you are calling "standards are trash as fck".. we monsters adjusted our standards already yet here the haters are bringing old standards just to label gaga's success a FLOP.

like if she's really OVER, isnt she supposed to do like below 80k SPS at least..??  isnt that supposed to be the haters' expectations?? yet here Gaga pulling 201k and they still say "FLOP", "OVER". and trashing monsters' standards..

like be consistent at least..

Why not? Including the fact that BA has Migos and well prepared promo, I think it's unfair for TC.

Besides the point, people are being over dramatic about the sales climate. Yeah it is decreasing but it's not changing so greatly downwards in between a couple of months.

KEYWORD: maybe

I said "the album is not experimental except for MAYBE Power and Mind Maze" **** produced by Max Martin (the hit maker) can't be experimental, idk why u so pressed tho, this is Katy's best album so far, she deserved the #1, but let's not call the album what is not just to justify the situation...

17k SPS? Is it confirmed?

Let's just clear this up...

SPS (sales plus streaming) is a term used synonymously with album-equivalent units. The Billboard 200 is sorted by album-equivalent units.

1 sale = 1 unit. 10 song sales = 1 unit. 1,500 song streams = 1 unit. Units that come from song sales are called track-equivalent albums (TEA). Units that come from streams are called streaming-equivalent albums (SEA).

Katy did 187k units total (so we say she did 187k SPS). 170k of those units came from pure album sales. The other 17k came from SEA & TEA.

Well BA is the second single, it was released after a lot of backlash about Katy AND had some backlash on its own for featuring Migos, its theme, its artwork... Plus with it not being that great of a song, the sales are understandable.

TC was released on Coachella where Gaga had a HUGE attendance, it was her first single coming off of the Superbowl and it was well received.

A fair comparison would be with Rise.

In what world? Rise's first week promo was insane, ask anyone and they'd admit to that.

A fair comparison is really Swish Swish. Well perceived song, was performed at SNL, has Nicki as a feature. I'm sure those add up next to TC's hype, and more. Rise is way too old, CTTR is maybe best.

It's 2017, not 2013.

The numbers are standard, yes it should have been higher however the media scrutiny she's had in the lead up to the release has clearly hindered her sales.

True. And she release the album after BA floppin'...

The Tour tickets excuse is so anoying...

Gaga didnt debut with 170k pure? So Lady Gaga, aka by some like Streaming Poison, did almost the double of Katy's SPS?! (Who in a month have 175 millions views in Bon Appétit's video on yt ....)

Rise and The Cure are both stand alone singles. Both released after they did the superbowl...

And let's not act like Coachella is not insane promo sis :toofunny3:

Either way, Gaga and Katy will never have the same success they once had so the drags from both bases need to stop already.
