Yes because there is a huge difference between $0.99 and free

Exactly my point.

Putting an album for $.99 is an even worse gimmick than tour bundles though. Hell, you could argue it is worse than being free  :rip:

i mean, i think 400k people bought BTW for a dollar. So interscope made a quick lil' half million of the 99 cent tactic whereas Rih's label made zilch. :celestial2:But, that's not even taking into consideration the fact that amazon had to buy those btw copies at full price and took a loss by selling it for $1.

Rihanna/her label had to get paid a certain minimum amount for each of those 1M copies bought by Samsung in order to get recognized by the RIAA (RIAA exec said it himself). The minimum album price to be eligible for a RIAA certification is $3. I'll let you do the math (1,470,000 x $3). Way more than a lil half million. :doc:

And yet BTW still sold 600k+ without it.

That deal lasted for one day and every copy sold for that price was paid in full by Amazon. The sales from that deal don't even account for 5% of Born This Way's overall sales.

Katy is having a tour bundle for the entire week and is doing so bad, the tour bundle is continuing afterward.

Do you have receipts to prove this?

As and when customers redeem their album. That's why Metallica had consistent sales over the weeks

Oh well, a gimmick is a gimmick. * :celestial3:

So then why do people keep bringing up next week's sales?

I need RECEIPTS that show that the ticket counting toward sales will indeed continue after the debut week.

So then why are you trying to drag Katy since you just admitted both situations in the end are pretty much the same? (gimmicks) :doc:

You're completely missing the point. The thing is, my precious hunty, BTW would still be a huge success even without the * you speak of. :) They're not in comparable situations; they're not even on the same league. So if i were you, I'd take BTW out of the discussion. :thing:

Also, Amazon buying the album and selling it for .99 for publicity is not even similar to Katy's team bundling Witness with tour tickets. Essentially, Amazon saw BTW's high demand and took advantage of it. Witness, on the other hand, was bundled to increase its sales; they knew it didnt have much demand.  Now, where are you trying to go with the BTW argument? :rip:

But in the long run, didn't Teenage Dream still outsell Born This Way in the US when the dust was settled?

No one should minimize Gaga's achievement as not many artists have 1MM debuts, but she literally got 50% of her total sales on her first week. Gaga might have bigger numbers but Katy has more consistency.

LOL

Gaga's debuts have been fairly consistent outside BTW meanwhile this would've been a HUGE drop from PRISM and TD had she not used this bundle. Hush.

The non-stop Katy dragging in this thread is too much :lmao:

tour bundle isn't just for this week.  It will matter for 2nd,3rd etc. as long as somebody bought a ticket and got a copy of the album.

Yes. Good to know that Gaga and her team never did that. The only thing they did is say YES when Amazon offered to sell BTW at 1 dolar for a day and PAY FULL PRICE to Gaga and Interscope.  Why would they say no ? You are acting like BTWs deal was used to inflate sales of BTW when in reality Amazon used BTW to promote their OWN service :lmao:  Yall do not look smart, mentioning BTW's ground breaking - never done before (or after) deal.

OT: i am glad the bundle exist, the album deserves to be heard.

You do know that Katy's tour dates are not sold out right ? :rip:  Every time someone buys a ticket and gets a copy - it counts. Somebody posted receipts of U2 album jumping from 70 to top 10 cuz of ticket bundle that was done a few weeks after the album was released.

This is fundamental. I can't believe people still use this excuse against BTW when it wasn't even Gaga's idea.
