And that’s great for Selena though her speaking to a handful of her fans is not a solution. Mental illness remains taboo and will continue to as long as the root causes remain unaddressed. I’m not expecting her to either, but I resent companies (like Rare and other beauty brands that contract slave labor to extract mica and other minerals to produce their products) that co-opt an empowerment message despite creating the conditions that would absolutely affect mental health negatively.
