Gorjesspazze9 Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 He is right tho. Anyone with a brain can tell Cardi has ghostwriters the fact people think she can rap alongside Nicki is a joke in itself. Cardi ain’t a MC, Nicki is. 2 3

I'm amusing myself imagining some middle aged man coming up with the line "***** tight like a nun" and feeling super proud of himself so writing it into the track twice. 2

The whole industry was trying to phase Nicki out. Atlantic was paying other female rappers to diss Nicki. They tried the same thing on Beyoncé circa 2007-2009.
Communion Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 He's mad cause he's a right-wing conservative from a well-to-do family who hates taxes and Cardi is a progressive from a working class background that wants everyone to have healthcare regardless of how poor they are. 3 5 3

It’s always about money, thus putting an artist in charge who they *control* artists on a 360 deal make a whole lot more money for the label (and less for themselves, getting trapped and even in debt), as do artists who rely on label connections for writers etc. and can’t maintain their career if they walk Edited October 2, 2023 by ImpressMeMuch

Nicki has had a stronghold of the majority share of female rap audiences for over a decade now, & her contract is that of one that is more generous to her, than that of the industry or a label. She demonstrated more than anyone how lucrative it can be, & it makes total sense that a label would want to replicate that success, using a curated pawn that they ultimately benefit more from, financially. This is evident in the spur of female rappers being signed & pushed by labels wanting to cash in with their own replica, but it’s clear that these are temporary business ventures, leaving the girls locked into label debt. The model has a slight chance of success, but we’ve seen it doesn’t maintain without heavy $$$ backing, which the label has zero interest in once they’ve cashed in. They move on to the next “project” & flavour of the moment. And their pawns are left scratching their gassed heads pondering “why aren’t I selling?”. That is Cardi’s legacy & I’ll give it to her, these are the types of doors she “opened”. I don’t personally think that’s worthy of celebration, credit or praise, nor has it left female rap in a better state. 2

Soda Pop Queen Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 (edited) I swear men cattily gossip more than people claim women do, it's ridiculous. I wonder who he was on the phone with? He just seems like the type that talks cash **** about everyone behind their backs but will smile in their face when need be, even people he claims to like. I bet this is one of the reasons The Carters, Rihanna, and a lot of others he used to hang with cut him off long ago. He's left at arms length at best. Doesn't matter if what he is saying has some truth to it, he's one to talk. He been fell off mentally AND creatively ages ago, like even way before this clip was filmed.
