Gwendolyn Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Rather Be the M&S Cultural Icon of it's time But yeah, no one here liked her even at her peak 1 1
glitch Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Sorry but I never understood her success. As a Brit, I've met one person in my life who claimed to like her music. It feels like it's always been popular to drag her (like Rita Ora ).

Britain has a very fast turnover in terms of both the singles chart and debut of new artists due to it geographically and culturally being the middle point between American music and European music, so artists don't really get a lot of time to stick around. Yeah. Also everyone wants to bash the UK GP for not supporting these people longer than one or two albums but no one wants to address the fact that most of the popstars major labels shove down our throats are faceless. Of course these people aren't building a fanbase because they have no unique qualities. They're just the latest vehicles to push some writers camp demos into the top 10 and can easily be replaced be someone younger and cooler. If you look at artists who've had success past their debut in the UK, like Sam Fender, Dua Lipa, Adele, Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Little Mix, Coldplay etc these people all have/had distinctive brands and thus had some name recognition and built a fanbase. 2
Graves Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Spent most of her career as a faceless hit-girl and had no real fanbase, and then when she finally did show us who she was... she was rotted af lmaoooo. Good riddance!

livelikemusic Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Atlantic UK tried controling her sound and she wanted to do something else. The biggest crime is the music video for "I'll Be There" being removed from YouTube. 1

A couple of bad PR disasters and they dropped her as they do with most females after a couple of eras = nobody to consume her music. This.
KOMH Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Karma for terrorising British and Irish radio stations between 2015 and 2018. Still don't get why her debut album was as gigantic as it was in this part of the world
Keeandga Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 I always forget I’ve seen her live, it’s was so underwhelming thank god she was only the opening act.
Saint James Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 a lot of artists are GP fueled but she is the MOST gp fueled that we've had. it's like those songs were hand crafted for the grocery store and morning radio.
Maroonx Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Jess is great... But I didn't like this new song... Also we're in the streaming era, and I don't see her a streaming force.

Your dedication to hating is insane.
Revolution Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 the uk always does this to their female artists. whats new. this is why they always try to break the american market for security.

It's not like Cheryl deserved it to begin with Jess is absolute trash though, glad she's flopping now. She never established a big fanbase and took too long of a break, she was bound to flop.
