The feud is over! Lorde thanks Lana on the 10th anniversary of Pure Heroine

Lorde was very young, Lana was going through it with the misrepresentation of her. It was a tough time to be Mother and Daughter back then. So glad they’re friendlier now.

Does anybody remember what she said specifically about Lana? Something like "the lyrics aren't relatable" right? But then she praised her mvs right after. That's what I remember.

I’m not 100% but I believe what offended/annoyed Lana was that Lorde said her music isn’t “good for young girls” to listen to and quoted lyrics from “Without You” ie “I have nothing without you”.

She said this when she was talking **** about basically everyone in the industry, and while Lana was getting a lot of criticism about her lyrics and that it wasn’t feminist etc. but Lana was never intending to be anyone’s role model and just wanted to write whatever she wanted.

Then Lana and her dad mostly (:rip:) started engaging with Lana’s fans on Twitter about Lorde and her music. Including Lana allegedly (but I think it’s true) liking a self-harm tweet about Lorde.

After that is the whole Stoned at the Nail Salon/Wild at Heart potential lawsuit since people said Lorde ripped Lana off. However both songs and entire albums had the same producer (Jack Antonoff) so I imagine this is more fan speculation/complete bull.

Lana was nearly 30 years old dissing a 17 year old.

The fact anyone can act like Lorde was in the wrong is crazy. :rip:

Lorde was kinda right back in 2013, but some people have short memories. There hasn't really been any feud on Lorde's part for a long time. She put a Lana song on her Spotify playlist back in 2017.

She kinda explains the interviews she did when she was 16 in her newsletter.

In this stage, it felt like I pulled everything off by the skin of my teeth. Every week was the most exciting week of my whole life, I was so tired and still didn’t have a winter coat and took everyone clamouring for a piece of me completely for granted. I had zero cultural context, had no idea if an interview or TV show was huge or small, and so breezed through it all truly not giving a ****. I am not a naturally nonchalant person, it was literally just too much to care about, I could hardly get up in the morning, so I just said absolutely whatever I felt like, all kinds of wild ****, if someone did something corny I’d say so, I was ruthless in that way that only teens are.

…that’s not what ageism is :rip:

Someone in their late 20s, who’s had a lot more life to live and experiences and learnings which likely form their perspectives on the world, should not be dragging someone 10 years younger than them — someone who hasn’t had that time to mature and live. The brain doesn’t even fully develop until 25! I can’t even imagine having a debate with a high schooler now, and I’m 24.

It's not ageism to point out that a 30 year old should know better to not laugh and encourage fans to make jokes about a minor cutting their wrists. :rip: Love Lana (saw her at Hyde Park literally 2 months ago!), but it was a very immature thing to do and the fact some of y'all can't see that out of blind stanning is...

Welp, you're banned. But she said in some interviews her lyrics always talked about being in luxury places in expensive cars and how people like her couldn't relate to those lyrics. Also she called her out for not being feminist and how her music is unhealthy for young girls with this whole 'I'm nothing without you, don't leave me' scheme Lana sings about
