Helps in terms of:

 

*People searching for WAP will see Bongos in results since two are associated. 

*Sometimes triggers notification when new releases are available.

 

*Helps put Bongos back into algorithmic playlists as if it’s a new release.  <—- Prob most important reason.  
 

Again, I don’t think it’s desperate since a lot of ppl are doing it now.  Just haven’t seen it done with an older song like this.  Prob something her label decided to do ultimately.
