Like people have been moaning about how the devs aren't making new type of content and are playing it safe, but then Endwalker gave us big PvP changes, variant dungeons and island sanctuary, yet people didn't like it and instead were fixated on getting field operations like Eureka and Bozja back instead. 

 

Like I'm not saying the new type of content they added was all great (right off the bat) but damn, you can't win with these people :deadbanana2:

That's exactly why I think it is stupid for him to say that. Very unlikely that people are going to agree on something like that, so to urge the player base to come to a consensus about it and citing that as the reason, when I am sure that the people who did not have an issue with how raid buff and the meta worked prior were also not the ones complaining about it or posting about it on forums!

 

That's the same kind of thing that is with Eureka and Bozja and the supposed complaints about that kind of content, which is part of the reason they decided not to include it in Endwalker. The people who don't have an issue with that aren't going to be posting about it, so it will of course always seem like a large majority of people are opposed to something since they're all the ones talking about it.

 

That's really the main reason I find it to be annoying and stupid take. Like if they want that to be the meta, that is one thing, but citing the player feedback of it and urging them to come to an agreement... like??

I think the main point is that the dev team does listen to feedback and take notes, but a lot of people often seem to end up forgetting that many changes that are now criticized are the result of previous complaints being taken into account, and complain about the changes as if they were short-sightedness, lazyness. lack of talent or just straight up maliciousness from the development team. And if we are going to have a discussion about where the balancing and meta should be heading, it should be taken into consideration that not everybody liked how things were back then, just as much how not everybody likes how things are now. 

 

I don't think Yoshi-P is actually asking the community to come into a consensus about balancing, I think it's just more of a reminder that this is a long-term development that has been forming through community feedback, and to now tear it all down is just straight up disheartening when you've done all the grueling balancing to get to this point. 


Though, feedback will continue to be given and it remains to be seen how the dev team reacts. Dawntrail most likely wont have any big changes, but I think 8.0 will have to address the meta more directly.

Speaking of the meta. Came back earlier this month after burning out after EW release and decided to pick up Healer instead of playing DPS.. the fact the pure healers (WHM/AST) are so redundant because all hard content are just mitigation checks and there is hardly any instances of consistent damage, just mitigate it and let a OGCD do the rest since it'll be like 20-30 seconds until another raid wide hit :skull: If they keep that the same in 8.0... 

 

Doing general roulettes I have noticed how they have nerfed so many of the previous dungeons.. it's throwing me for a loop. I am genuinely concerned at the new player experience because they really get babied for most of the game now

Crisis Core is wild. Why’d I just walk into Aerith’s church and she’s hanging out with a one winged armored Angel dog. That proceeds to kill a robot that randomly rolls in the door

Good point and argument! I do agree with it.

I hate the pure healer / shield healer meta. I only really ever use shield healers - and I hated what they did to ast by making it a pure healer only in Endwalker because I always used nocturnal sect when I was on ast and ast is what I mained. I'm always someone who mitigates. And in current fights, like you said, it's all focused on mitigating and if you are the shield healer, you will get blamed for not shielding enough, whether or not anyone uses any other mitigations like addle, reprisal, feint. It's very frustrating.

I know a lot of people would probably want this but I'm SO OVER remakes at this point. I don't even see how this would work because VI is kind of weird in that it doesn't really have a main character, it has such a big cast and the story isn't easily sectioned into several parts. Also I feel like a lot of characters would lose their mystique and the image people have of them when you voice act and animate them in 3D.

I know this would never happen but I honestly feel like that game out of all the FF games, would work better as a high budget television show just because of how massive the cast is and their backstories as well as how engaging and emotional the story already is. There is SO much they can do with FFVI in a series.

I finished Crisis Core last night (downloading REMAKE now 😍😍

 

it was ok. I had the original on PSP but never really got into it as a kid, I wish I would have bc playing it now I feel like I would have been way more interested/involved in the story which was kinda convoluted for me. I also didn’t really get into the missions (finished with 25%) that would have worked way better with the free time of being a child and playing portably.

 

That being said, I’ve only made it like halfway thru the original 7 probably like 10 years ago. I’ve beaten REMAKE when it first came out but obviously it’s only like 1/3 of 7’s story so I didn’t really know that the plot was gonna get a little… nonsensical. 
 

it was also so obvious the game was made during the Kingdom Hearts hayday, many similar design choices with KH games of the time even down to the locations and story bits. After watching an explanation/recap on YouTube I enjoyed it overall. 

 

now to start Remake and play Intermission for the first time!

Yea I just figured since sage was new they wanted to highlight that 

 

but the pure healing difficultly between p12s and e12s is quite different 

 

 

you literally do nothing for the first 3-4 min as a whm in p12s in both parts lol

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo is SO F*****G BADASS :jonnycat: My faith in Square Enix had been faltering in 2023, but if there's one thing they will always nail, it is FF7 Universe. I cannot wait tor the full game

I read somewhere that there might be a remake of FFVI in HD2D style (like the Octopath Traveler series, LiveALive and Triangle Strategy) and I am here for it. :duca:

 

Hopefully they take the chance to flesh out more of the individual characters' stories, even Gau and Umaro. That deleted scene between Strago and Shadow should be put in there too.

Yup! Demo (first few hours of the game) is out now for free, full release Feb 22nd!

I wish they would release the 13 trilogy on PS5. I actually liked 13 a lot despite it being a hallway simulator.

Some claims are that they will do that. :smile:

PS3 technology is really terrible to work with for backwards compatibility.

I own it on Switch and really like it. Do you have any specific questions about it? I'd recommend starting with IV, V or VI. They're the best ones.

Rebirth looks really good but I don't feel super excited for it, IDK. I thought Remake was good but too linear + the world wasn't all that interesting... everyone was very Avalanche this, Shinra that... it didn't have a lot of the FF weirdness I was after. I'm hoping with both Red and Cait and a massive world to explore, Rebirth allows itself to have FUN more than the first game.

Same, I'll get it eventually but my eyes are set on Rising Tides and FF9 remake rumors.

I didn't really enjoy the Rebirth demo. :rip: Just like with Remake there's something very generic/off about it. I don't know. :rip:

A lot of FF16 stans say the combat feels awful in the Rebirth demo. Didn't try it yet but I believe them.

Uh oh… I guess I’m glad I only watched my bf play 16 then instead of playing it myself, then maybe I can still enjoy Rebirth lol
