Scenario: You Have One Wish to Change The World

Imagine a remarkable scenario where you find yourself in the presence of an angel who bears a message of immense significance. This celestial messenger reveals that you have been chosen by God to make a single wish, and remarkably, this wish carries no divine or earthly consequences whatsoever (unless you obviously wish for something that will impact you in this way directly). However, there is a catch: your wish cannot be for your own personal desires; it must be something that you genuinely believe will make the world a better place.

Now, the intriguing part is that there are specific rules to follow in making this wish, rules that are designed to make you think deeply and carefully about your choice. Here they are:

1. The Wish's Intent:
Your wish, first and foremost, should mirror your vision of an improved world. There is no objective morality here, but God knows your heart, so your wish should ultimately reflect your sincere aspiration to enhance the world in some manner; if that includes something morally divisive like k*lling but you sincerely believe it would improve the world, the wish is allowed.

Example: Suppose you genuinely believe that dismantling privacy barriers would lead to greater transparency and, in turn, foster societal accountability. Your wish could be for total transparency, where all personal and public information is accessible to anyone. While some may view this as a gross invasion of privacy, you argue it would ultimately curb corruption and deceit, serving the greater good.

2. The Limitation of Influence:
Suppose your wish involves controlling or compelling others in some way. There's a caveat – you can indeed wield this power, but there's a cap to it. You can only mentally influence up to thirty individuals simultaneously, and no more.

Example: If your wish involves exerting control or influence over others, consider a scenario where you believe that world peace could only be achieved by compelling thirty world leaders to act and decisions that benefit the the world as a whole. You may wish to influence these leaders to act in concert for global harmony. Although this might be seen as infringing upon the autonomy of nations, you argue that it's a necessary sacrifice to prevent conflicts and suffering.

3. One and Only:
A stark and simple directive, this rule asserts that you have but one shot at making a wish. There's no wishing for additional wishes or any other loopholes.

4. The Bounds of Possibility:
Your wish must be firmly rooted in the realm of what's physically possible within the confines of your reality. You cannot wish for things that defy the laws of nature or the boundaries of your world.

Example: Photosynthesis, a process exclusive to plants, allows them to convert sunlight into energy by utilizing chlorophyll. Attempting to bestow this capability upon humans challenges reality, as it contradicts the well-established principles of human biology. While the intention behind the wish may be to address energy and food resource issues, it neglects the intricate complexities of human physiology, which relies on a different metabolic system.

In this extraordinary moment, you stand at the crossroads of choice and consequence. Your wish, once made, will shape the course of events in the world. It's a momentous decision, guided by these simple yet profound rules, as you become the architect of a brighter future. What will your wish be?

Not all these requirements... at this point it is basically the same as doing it instead of wishing it.

I want y'all to be IMAGINATIVE! Plus the rules arent that crazy, basically: if your wish involves mind control, you can only control three people (this is to prevent lazy everyone on earth get along), no reality warping (so making everyone never be hungry or something like that), you only have one wish, and the wish has to be for the good of humanity.

How? Because you can only mind control 30 people, so would it be like a gradual ice age, global natural disaster. etc. Cmon mama let's think!

The second condition really ****** me up because I was planning to wish that billionaires would stop hoarding wealth and pledge all the money that they could never spend to humanitarian causes.

I'll need to think on this. Let me cook my dinner, workout, have my bath and revisit this thread when there are more responses :gaycat:

Then title the thread "you have one wish to influence any three people in the world" instead of "one wish to change the world". Because the three people thing is going to limit you to a very small pool of options.

I updated from 3 to 30, you're right in that 3 makes it very limited, but I think 30 is very good number, even just 10 influential people being under your control could change the world but I did want to make it easier.

All nuclear bombs, explosives, and guns cease to exist.

The counter point is that people would need guns to defend themselves, but if no one else has any guns, it’s an equal playing field. For self defense you can use a taser or a knife (we do need to cut food lol).

edit: this might be outside the bounds of possibility bc how can we live in a world where AI and smartphones are possible but a simple gun or a bomb can’t be made. But I’m too tired to think of another answer so I’m sticking to it. Poof. They’re all gone.

Wake up every day with a million dollars more in my bank account (so if I only spend $500,000, the next day I’ll wake up and have $1.5 million, etc.)

This would improve up to 30 people’s lives because I’d quit work and not have to commute every day, and I’d be in a better mood and happier and there would be one less car on the road :clap3: and someone would get my job, and their family and sphere of influence would be positively impacted
