NOW Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 (edited) Quote But Honeymoon is by far Del Rey’s most beautifully made and cohesive album. It’s worth our while, though, to look at it as one final wink on an album full of them. That all the while we’ve been debating her authenticity, she’s stood steadfast playing a character and is pleased every time we painstakingly try to figure it out. Who is Lana Del Rey? Someone who is constantly asking us who we are when we need things given to us as neatly as possible. https://www.factmag.com/2015/09/27/lana-del-rey-honeymoon-review/ Quote Del Rey has that uncanny ability to sound both modern and retro at the same time but walks a very singular path. So let’s hope this isn’t adieu but an au revoir, because Honeymoon reaffirms her ability to make important, masterful pop music that doesn’t pay a blind bit of notice to fashion and it's all the better for it. https://www.thelineofbestfit.com/reviews/albums/honeymoon-is-the-dazzling-emancipation-of-lana-del-rey Quote I guess what I’m trying to say is yes, yes, and thank you. Your previous communications have been great to immerse myself in, but this one has really floored me. You’ve found your own style and run with it. It’s amazing to see someone so free and in control. https://drownedinsound.com/releases/19042/reviews/4149440 Quote It reminds us of something that was the very issue with Del Rey that irritated some early on—she knows exactly what she is doing. Honeymoon just synthesizes ideas she's been vamping on from the beginning into a unified work. She figured where she was going long before she got there; with Honeymoon she has finally arrived. https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/21033-honeymoon/ Quote And so after four years in the limelight, here lounges Ms. Del Rey, immune to the gravitational pull of the discourse about her. Once a careful invention, she is now glassy-eyed and glassy-voiced, too cool to care. The result is something like a dog that, when its leash is tugged, simply lies on the ground and shuts its eyes: basking in the sun, feeding off its warmth, never giving an inch. https://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/18/arts/music/review-lana-del-rey-honeymoon.html Edited September 18, 2023 by NOW
BrokenMachine Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 It's such a well done album, and I would say the most underrated from her discography
jakeisphat Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 It’s a masterpiece. Always was. Hoes slept on it cuz it wasn’t BTD (thank goodness it wasn’t).
Bimbo Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Underrated masterpiece. It's so cinematic it's insane.
Domination Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 What she set out to do on BTD but perfected.
TheBoss Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Her best album along with NFR and Ocean Blvd, truly a masterpiece 3
James_Dean Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Better than her most recent releases 1
Vixen Eyes Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Perfect. It's just too short imo. Replace the interlude with a second disc including all of the outtakes. Including the original versions of Lust for Life tracks.
whitehotforever Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 love this album so much title track alone >>>
ahauntingnearu Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 One of my favorite albums - and my favorite of hers. Stunner after stunner. The title track 1
Club classic Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 One of her best, a cinematic masterpiece. It has some career highlights like Art Deco, Freak, Blackest Day and one of her best songs Terrence Loves You. A real gem that never got its flowers because it followed cult classic Ultraviolence imo!
Junipero Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 (edited) It feels like half the songs were trying to be on Born to Die 2.0 but she didn't have Emilie Haynie to produce? I applaud her for trying to branch out to other types of music on this album. Edited September 18, 2023 by Junipero
Sawk Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 ONLY GETS BETTER WITH TIME!!! A FINE WINE Used to be in my bottom half of her discography and now I switched like f@qq0ts and think it’s her second best after NFR! She really did THAT TERRENCE LOVES YOU
Onyxmage Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 It’s my personal favorite Lana album but her teen fans are a bit obsessed with it. Like she doesn’t even acknowledge it anymore.
