Mocha Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 (edited) the ego of her manager this would've been good exposure for her and snooze. Edited September 15, 2023 by Mocha 6

Michael196 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 18 minutes ago, reymiu said: Entitlement ? SZA had a huge year and definitely deserved the nomination over Doja Cat (who I love btw) and Nicki - both of who don't even have albums out yet wait... just looked up the list of nominees and she wasn't nominated while Doja, Nicki and Shakira were when they haven't released an album in a while, I thought they're referring to her not winning, and not a nomination to begin with... wtf 2
bad guy Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 She’s above the glorified Kids Choice Awards so yes this was a good call. 4 1 1

Diet Pepsi Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 as she should, she easily had the biggest album of the year but somehow she was snubbed in favor of Nicki 2 1

SOS was HUGE and definitely the biggest album after Midnights. Luckily nobody even cares about the VMAs so Morgan Wallen album was much bigger and he didn't get any nom. 2 3 1

I'm conflicted. I mean, if it's meaningless than it doesn't matter if she had pulled out or stayed. Is still going giving the show credit it doesn't deserve because it no longer has cultural cache or pull (let alone meaningful viewership)? If there was a way to track a difference in album and single streams and sales subsequently, maybe that argument could be made. But even that's now negligible even for the big marquee stars.
DuffLavigne Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 She needs to fire that manager, first She absolutely deserved to be nominated. Although if it was a fan-voted category, she wasn't gonna win 1
Jjang Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 As she should. If certain other Pop stars were doing this they’d be called savvy businesswomen who care about the respect for their craft. SZA is having a tremendous year (esp. for an alt r&b black female artist) that deserves recognition on the highest level. Better put respect on her name! 3 1
hallucinate Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 yes she was snubbed but this was not the way to go tbh.
Don Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 (edited) I wonder what she gonna do when she finds out she ain’t gonna win AOTY at the Grammys…. Edited September 15, 2023 by Don 1 2
XtinaStripped Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Surprised at the reactions in here. The entitlement is showing. Who really loses here? Pulling out won’t bother MTV much. However, using the promo opportunity generated by their show would’ve definitely benefited her. 🤷♂️ 1 4
xtiliyan Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 And to think SZA cares enough for the VMAs to get offended for being snubbed... Anyway, considering she will be Ashanti's of the 20s, she should get as much exposure as she can, while she can. 1 8
By the Water Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 I'm surprised people are praising this. Like, yes she should have been nominated (she wouldn't have won either way since it's fan voted) but she was nominated for everything else. Award shows performances are kinda pointless nowadays but why pull out because of that? 1
Ivan_brit Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 She always skips award shows, don’t know if she is lazy or she simply dislike awards
Steve Johnson Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 And she wouldn't have won against Taylor anyways. She got 6 noms including VOTY.
ImpressMeMuch Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 But I thought the narrative was that nominations and wins were based on who attended? A true chicken & egg scenario lol 1
Hurem Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 I'm not a SZA fan, but she absolutely deserved the AOTY nom. They were dumb for not nominating her. 1
mons†er Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 that's right Solana. It's very much the same thing they did to Beyonce at The Grammy's.

She’s good on her own. 2
makeme Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Disappointing. We love you SZA but get your head out your ass you don't even make good music videos 1
slw84 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Makes sense. When you are legit snub, there's no need to show up unless you need to promote. Snooze is already top 10. What's the purpose?
