PinkBox Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Exqueeze me, nobody comes for my drag mother who's younger than me. Dame Rose, Aciid Rose, Scarlett Lapierre/MoonChild, the most iconique drag family
Whis Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Will this be another night filled with drama here at ATRL's Drag Race? xoxo Camille Toe
Moonchild Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 All of that said, Tippi's second look is still fine for a week 3 fashion challenge. This isn't the top five Ball.

It's not fine, it's fantastic. The challenge was couture, which is nearly impossible to achieve with separates considering the inspirational line is 95% gowns. For example, see everyone else's entries which are not couture, even the ones that also included a premade dress
DripDrip Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Back on the main stage CitRU asked the girls a question CitRU: What are the judges not seeing this challenge? Melanoma: The judges aren't seeing that Tippi google first page picks her outfits. Carbon: That was brash. Melanoma: We were given instructions to not just submit a simple runway but she didn't follow the guidelines. Tippi: She told me "stop googling your outfits or I'm gonna make you stop googling your outfits" Melanoma: that's not what I said, I said "Tippi, you're supposed to crop your own outfit, to which you said, ok sweetie." Tippi: They're testing me. Maybe next time I'll link Melanoma some outfits so she doesn't come out with another not couture look like she is now. Just because I don't compliment these girls all the time. Noah: excuse me miss thing I know I'm creative you don't have to tell me, just get yourself some manners so you don't look so god damn stupid.

Aciid Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Do you know what couture means? Because I've seen you say that a couple of times. The pieces did not come from a couture collection, but the challenge is an oath to the sewing challenges, meaning the looks the girls put together are supposed to represent them, their creativity and their own vision. Couture is exclusive one of a kind clothes made to perfection and in majority sewn by hand, with deep attention to detail and in most cases done for artistic purposes. So no, it doesn't have to be a gown, and no we do not expect the queens to use actual clothes from a couture collection, because again, this is supposed to be a "sewing challenge". Couture = Made by them, not taking something from a fashion designer that is already couture. Whether or not it's good it's what we're judging here. To begin with the challenge did not ask you to use a D&G piece, it said to be inspired by them, you weren't locked in on using Alta Moda at all. You didn't even have to include any D&G piece if you didn't want to. D&G has a strong brand and a lot of elements from where you could have taken inspiration. Being florals, religion, culture and italian themes etc. Thinking outside the box is key. With that being said I still like your look, and I'm not really trying to start some dumb feud here. I just wanted to clarify this "couture" thing being thrown around which makes no sense to me.
Wondy Lust Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 If she feels like it's couture let her feel like it's couture goddamit!
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted June 29, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted June 29, 2017 I was waiting for someone to clock her lack of knowledge on what couture means

I won't say it's disappointing that so many of you were on the nose for this challenge, but I expect people to really think about what they're being asked and see how they can differentiate it for themselves. A lot of people just submitted nice bikinis that I will forget in a week or so. My own judge's look is by no means amazing, but at I made an active effort to avoid the cliche of summer/beach = sea, seashells, sand, umbrellas, etc. and approached it from a different angle, so at the very least I've done something unique, which to me when it comes to the runway, is the main thing. This is sorta what I tugged MC for last season. She submitted a lot of... nice things. But that's all they were. They didn't feel very differentiated towards her. Eve last season did an amazing job at submitting very nice things that were styled so that there was a very consistent aesthetic in her looks that approached the challenges in unique ways.
