Aston Martin Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Good now we need to do everything we can including bullying pressuring politicians into restoring abortion rights across this country. 1 1

Onyxmage Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 At the risk of sounding ignorant how are they able to restore it after a year of it being banned? Does it have something to do with the new Supreme court justice in that state?

Yeah it’ll probably get overturned through the court but it was banned based on a law from 1849 that was always kind of vague anyway I believe. Republicans want the new Supreme Court justice impeached and removed, but if they don’t do so by December 1st, the governor just appoints a replacement who won’t be up for an election until 2031, so it’d basically be pointless.

Yup. Even more shady stuff happening with the gop in Wisconsin today too 💀

There is a workaround the GOP will most likely utilize. They will impeach her in the House but not bring her impeachment to a vote in the Senate. This means after House impeachment, she will be stripped of her power to vote in cases, but will remain on the bench indefinitely. This will keep the governor from being able to appoint her replacement. These people are truly sick.

The governor elects a replacement for the Justice that was just elected?

If republicans vote to remove her, yes. The GOP has a huge majority in the Wisconsin legislature because of how hard they gerrymandered it after the 2010 elections. 3 hours ago, Sannie said: There is a workaround the GOP will most likely utilize. Wisconsin would hold the next election for the Justice he appoints on the next open election calendar for a Supreme Court seat, and after 2024 the next open seat isn’t until 2031. She has until December 1st to be removed if they want to have that race in 2024.

She can be impeached, step down, and then the gerrymandered map can be struck down with her liberal replacement.

IF she is out of office before then, the next election will be in April 2024 during the Republican primaries.

It seems like they would need to impeach her + remove her through the Senate trial quite quickly. They would not be able to do the House only impeachment because then she will just wait until after December 1.

Yeah i dont think this is gonna go well for the GOP in Wisconsin.
