Music industry sales reached a new peak in 2021 (beating 1999), streaming isn't to be underrated

still pretty impressive of her to do it with an "old" release

It’s not exactly sales/consumption units, though - it’s overall revenue, purely the money of it, which usually shakes out to be similar to total unit consumption but it isn’t a perfect 1:1 match. It’s clear that streaming has transformed the industry; most big artists are still not seeing the numbers that the biggest artists in the industry were seeing on a yearly basis back in the 90s and early 2000s, but the industry as a whole has recovered in revenues nonetheless, suggesting that the money is less concentrated in a small group of top artists (with one or two notable exceptions) and more spread out.
