I think this is actually a solid boy of work and there are definitely HIGHLIGHTS ZAMN!

Sand >> God's Game >> Boyfriend

I feel like that's a cohesive sound in those three.

Also she definitely doesn't whisper, she can actually belt, watch the live performances.

Idk why but I though she would go in the Dark Jazzy Pop realm.

I think it's good first body tho HATE the cover and font style.

It never came out because Meant To Be smashed and they rushed to get her debut album out instead of AYF3 lol

anywho. Outside of Sand (which I’ve loved since release) and God’s Game, this is a weird first listen :duck:  Production wise it gives a mix of Billie, Tones and I, and Halsey all in one which ironically could be interesting but her lyrics and voice have no identity whatsoever. Never liked the old singles either.

right, thanks. they should’ve gotten the album out during the Boyfriend/Breakfast momentum (technically shortly after Breakfast w/ Bad Idea). but i’m assuming there wasn’t enough material for an album.

she had just come off her previously planned debut EP she was recording in 2021, of which LazyBaby was the single.

then went into a new direction and made changes to the project. Boyfriend took off on TikTok, released it immediately, and then expanded the EP into the full-length album Celestial Bodies — which had a 14-song tracklist in the works. Bad Idea, Girl Like Me, and WGDT were all singles for that project.

Before she stated that due to her being “unreasonable” with the number of tracks and to be cohesive with it representing 2 sides of the coin seperately, they split the album into 2 parts. :rip:

She started off so strong with Bloodshot and Waste and then she started pandering to TikTok and lost her way as an artist

She retracted from going into the “goth badass jazz dark villain / tease” sound and style since it got monotonous after a while.

Plus, all songs can’t be that way and she said the project evolved into being more vulnerable.

I have issues but when I ignore the cohesive actual album/EP bit I actually like most songs. She has put out quite a few I like now, though taken some down too which I hate but can deal with. Overall sure, it lacks identity and is a bit all over the place. But if you don’t mind it there are quite a few decent to good songs on it. She’s still a new artist finding herself and her identity and I kind of expect that. I really didn’t think she was gonna come out of the gate with this mastered brand and self image musically and personally. But my hope is while getting some songs to enjoy for fans it helps her figure it out more and keep growing until she nails it down. I am excited what more is to come from her and I love her voice

Do you think the tracklist and album, in terms of cohesion, could be an issue tho?

At times, the songs gel well together. The other, it feels like they stand out better individually.

Is the album gonna debut on the BB 200?

it hasn’t yet. and i don’t think it will tbh.

it’s only on digital/streaming as of now, and not doing very great numbers; so not possible to debut with that as the only medium of consumption at the moment (not like it cannot but it would require out-of-this-world streams).

she said on a live that fans would have to spam the label’s social media to request for the physicals, which people did, but it never came to fruition.

now, she said on X the other day that the physicals will be out after Vol. 2 is released; both volumes will be merged and released as one full album on CD and vinyl.

Posted

she also said that she will go on tour for this after Vol. 2 is out. she will have a bigger setlist.

don’t know if vol. 2 has been delayed or what, but i think it was always meant to come out in q2 or q3, after her string of festival shows so vol. 1 would get a good amount of exposure until then.

the album has some solid tracks, but it is so not cohesive it hurts me.

Lethal women and sand on the same album seem such a poor decision, she has a lot of room to grow.

Sorry I've been needing to get back on this as a fellow fan because her poor management has really just reached a boiling point for me.

An EP should've been out including the following

1. Bloodshot
2. Wasted
3. So Good
4. Out Of Touch
5. Remember Me featuring Bia
6. We Belong
7. LazyBaby
8. Talk About
9. Cut Me Off

Especially considering We Belong turned out to be a hit and LazyBaby was cute. The whole bullshit reason for her discography erasure will never not bother me. Those poor writers and producers who worked on those songs that will never be compensated is wild to me. One of the writers for those songs even expressed their frustration over the situation. **** like that is why the writers and actors strike happened in the first place you know?

This album should've come out as Celestial Bodies. Their first mistake was after Breakfast their random onslaught of droplets that were just throwing out there to see what sticks instead of properly pushing Breakfast and getting getting album together for release properly.

The "unreasonable" is also bullshit. Just gather all the tracks that you were already teasing on social media and performing live then call it a day. Also that's what deluxe edition and re releases are for. Now she's squandered all of her momentum and for what?

Yeah none of her old songs were bad. The extreme change in shift definitely was the label pushing to see what works. The pure pop wasn't working so they went with dark pop and scored but then still didn't know what to do with her? Like make it make sense.

It wasn't monotonous though. It became her niche and lane. Her constant switching up of sounds is what makes it hard for people to stick around especially since she's still a new artist. **** the vulnerable and please go all out with the "goth badass jazz villain" because if she just chalks this all up to being a phase then compensate us OG fans and re-upload all of her previous songs. Besides not everything she teased sounded the same.

She still needs a body of work to represent her. People have been waiting on an album from her from about a decade now. This is ridiculous and lowkey giving Normani

More and more lies. Clearly the label is screwing her over when it's their fault that she's in the position that she's in. This is all so frustrating.

She would also need to make songs that are longer than 3 minutes because these ringtone lengths are absolutely not it.

I was there. And while she looked and sounded amazing. Even met her and she greeted my friend. She seemed really out of it and rambled alot about her ex Thomas. Alot of people were pissed about her setlist being so short, she included an unnecessary cover and cut off two songs. I don't know if it was all the promo but she seemed really disconnected and over it.

Lmfao more lies. Her setlist and show wouldn't have been no different then the pop up she did in NYC. This is all bullshit. Something is definitely going on behind the scenes because she took a social media break and now is back to blonde again for some reason. With how big she got especially with the extracurricular projects she had going on she could've easily blown up just like Sabrina has who's essentially replaced her as a ex Disney act on their way to be a MPG. Like even Sofia Carson has managed to drop an album properly and carve out a name and space for herself.

Like sis can you please drop a new single and then tack on the other droplets so that the project isn't a complete flop. Like how hard is it to just be like hey yall Alchemical Part 2

1. Bad Idea

2. Girl Like Me

3. We Go Down Together featuring Khalid

4. Life Without Me

5. Kate Moss

6. Girls And Boys

7. Do The Math

8. I Know Something You Don't Know

9. Whole Body

10. Human

They all sound like that they're apart of the same universe so it makes sense that they're all a part of the same project. It just sucks that alot of these songs pack a punch that don't land because right when it picks up they end. It's frustrating

This is such a great tracklist, honestly.

That's really bad, what happened to the writers and producers' hard work.

Correct. Celestial Bodies was much more interesting and genuinely had a concept. While I don't think Alchemical doesn't, but they should've just gone ahead with the 12/14/16 tracks of CB and released it. It was difficult to take it serious for me when she said the album's releasing (which was anticipated by fans for +6/7 years) and that too was divided into 2 EPS (which were being marketed as "albums"). 8 songs. :rip: And while it was a good listen to me, it felt weak as a whole project. Did her label not show enough faith in Celestial?

There's still hundreds of songs that she teased for over a year/and a half that may never see the light of day. :rip:

She has so much potential and its all going to waste. There was a movie with  Jordan Fished that she signed. It was for HBO iirc. Field Notes on Love. No update on it but they announced it in 2021 or '22. There was also Cassi, that independent production. Trailer came out 2-something years ago and they said they would release it on VOD/premiere in festivals. Don't know what happened to that movie. And its sad the Powerpuff reboot was cancelled but we all saw that script leak.

Retrospectively, now I do agree with your take. I think she can/could have excelled in this arena. Her dedication and commitment was also evident.

Indeed. The hype has already died and they're waiting for Vol 2 to drop it on a CD/vinyl. :rip: She said Vol. 2 was supposed to come out early 2024. We're nearing summer and there's still no update on the album + she should have done those Lollapalooza shows. It would have been good exposure and then people would've been okay with her taking her time to drop Vol 2. Now, there's no festival shows, no Vol 2 yet, and no singles at all.

She has soooo much material, its crazy.

The fact that they would/should already be planning a "comeback" era because the debut one was mismanaged/a mess/not proper at all, infact. :rip: She deserves better.

The whole thing of the beginning of this era was her ditching the blonde because she was going through a major evolution/drastic change, working on herself, healing herself from her trauma, and then reflected that on her hair.

Is she a natural blonde though or was she always a brunette? I think its okay if she went back to being blonde. I mean there's always a change in decisions, moods, looks. Not necessary to always stick to one hair color. But no idea what is going on right now. I think she'll just come out of nowhere a few weeks or months later and announce a new single. She received A LOT of backlash from her (mainly) Brazilian and Latin American fans for the cancellation of the shows and her public outings with Damiano in Europe after that. People were dragging her a lot.
