Baltie Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 All She Wants screams smash hit and is up there on the album with Je T’Adore Not gonna lie, the second half of the album isn’t giving me as much as the first half + TMLAH. But still, a cohesive work from Miss Kim Petty except somebody needs to be dragged for the FSN erasure!
wantedyoutogrow Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 je t'adore is the best song on this
SchmoodRing Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Honestly from what I read on here it seems like she has more surprises in store for us. The fact that this was made then delayed then shelved then leaked after we thought it'd remain unreleased to then a few scraps making it onto feed the beast only to basically get this somehow released is crazy wild to me. This needs to be the new normal and something that artists should continue doing to feed their fans and recoup losses. This hands down to me is the better album just based on its consistency. The albums starts and ends on the same note. Like imagine if we got other vault albums from other artists like ☆ CL's original debut featuring ALL IN ☆ The Veronica's LIFE ON MARS ☆ JOJO's original house album ☆ Neon Hitch's BEG BORROW AND STEAL also ELEUTHEROMANIAC ☆ Ashlee Simpson's Dianne Warren produced and electropoprock albums ☆ Jessica Simpson's album with Lana Del Rey's BORN TO DIE producers, Missy Elliott produced album ☆ Michelle Branch's EVERYTHING COMES AND GOES and WEST COAST TIME ☆ Raye's original POP debut album with Fantastic, Call On Me, Born Again. ☆ Jesse McCartney's original 4th album HAVE IT ALL ☆ SHE IS MILEY CYRUS ☆ Christina Aguilera's CAVIAR RATCHET, AGUILERA PART 3 ☆ Christina Milian's ELOPE and DREAMING IN COLOR ☆ the scrapping Major Lazer album that had high profile features like Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Usher, Tinashe, Rita Ora, Fergie, Iggy Azalea and Lorde ☆ Becky G's original English debut album with Bubblicious, Say It Now, Coolin, Garden and her original Spanish debut album with Mala, Loco Por Mi, Mamasita ☆ Brooke Candy's OPULENCE, FREAKY PRINCESS, DADDY ISSUES, WHO CARES, SIA produced debut album, OH YEAH featuring Sophie (RIP) ☆ JLO's DANCE AGAIN album, AIN'T YOUR MAMA album, sophomore Spanish record POR PRIMERA VEZ, scrapped Spanglish record featuring Saweetie and Ozuna collabs and Cambia El Paso ☆ XCX WORLD ☆ Britney Spears THE ORIGINAL DOLL ☆ Chungha BARE AND RARE PART 2 ☆ UR scrapped Usher album featuring Drake, Chris Brown, Yung Thug, Ty Dolla Sign and Migos ☆ Gwen Stefani's follow up to THE SWEET ESCAPE called Carousel, her scrapped comeback record featuring Hard 2 Love, Hell Yeah Baby, Show Me, Marshmello, Shakira and Miguel, her reggae record made during Covid ☆ Britney Spears 10th album featuring Welcome To The Jungle ☆ Iggy Azalea DIGITAL DISTORTION ☆ Nelly Furtado's LOOSE B SIDES ALBUM ☆ Bebe Rexha's original debut album with Cry Wolf, 24/7, Starlight, All Your Fault Part 3 with Naughty featuring Offset, Expectations deluxe, Better Mistakes deluxe, Bebe deluxe ☆ Any BLACKPINK music ☆ 2NE1 original international debut full length album ☆ Aly And AJ third Hollywood Records album and Hothouse record ☆ HER NAME IS NICOLE with Just Say Yes, Physical featuring Timbaland, KILLER LOVE global re release, WILL.I.AM produced album, BIG FAT LIAR follow up ☆ The original HAPPINESS BEGINS follow up record produced by RYAN TEDDER, JONAS BROTHERS album ☆ DNCE second album ☆ NICK JONAS original third solo album with Find You, Remember I Told You and Right Now ☆ Bella Thorne's HOLLYWOOD RECORDS debut album, her electropop independent follow up ☆ Zendaya's Timbaland produced sophomore record ☆ RITA ORA's original RO2 O that had several Calvin Harris produced tracks, original RO3 RITA more urban pop featuring Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla Sign, Will.I.Am, original MOONLIGHT with How To Be Lonely and Dance With Me, BANG full length album ☆ Hilary Duff's DIGNITY follow up record, THIS HEART original comeback record prior to BIBO ☆ JOYRIDE (TINASHE'S VERSION) with Prisoner, My Territory, Just Like You and NASHE ☆ SHAKIRA's scrapped dance record that featured tracks by or with Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Iggy Azalea, Sean Paul, Nicki Minaj, RedOne, Tiesto, Benny Blanco, Max Martin, Dr Luke, Ester Dean, Skrillex Hope that album gets all the popularity, support, success that it deserves. The way that this has gone about has me thinking that this is some trial and error way of both the label and Kim trying to prove a point that they should stick and support her artistry as it is instead of trying to dilute her to the masses and something that she's not and maybe also even get out of 5 to 7 album contract deal she signed. Republic should strike while the iron is hot with the warm reception and release a FEED THE BEAST deluxe, PROBLEMATIQUE deluxe with Try Again, Lolita, Your Time To Cry, the CANDY album and THE SUMMER I COULDN'T DO BETTER officially with Plastic Factory, Design Of Your Heart, Dancin featuring Fergie, Push Push Push, Dark Part Of Your Heart, Oceans, Sex Up For Fun with Doja Cat. 7
pavi Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 (edited) I feel like this is more consistent than Feed The Beast, but not really in a good way? Feed The Beast had way lower lows, but it also had high highs, something this album really is lacking. FTB had song ranging from a 4 to a 10 on the album, while this has 6's and 7's imo, maybe one 8 in there. It's consistent, but not really consistently great. It's fun but a bit to samey and soulless, especially the second half. Hope it grows on me more Edited September 19, 2023 by pavi

No matter what I try, TMLAH doesn't flow well anywhere. put tmlah on slt pop with whale cck and im a slt and you get a 10 track album, thats what i did 1

willmcclure9 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 https://genius.com/Kim-petras-unreleased-songs-discography-list-annotated Is this correct? Gonna organise my albums with all the unreleased and remixes and demos ect ect
Bimbo Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 She should explore the Something About U sound more, it feels more solid than when she clearly turns her brain off and goes autopilot (TMLAH)
campelo Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 imagine if she does a deluxe with 2 more tracks Friday
djcalpal Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 This is so much better than Flop The Beast!

Lady Claire Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 I’ve always liked Problématique more than FTB, but i think FTB worked better as her debut. It’s supposed to introduce her to audiences that didn’t knew about her yet, so it’s basically a compilation of everything she’s able do, with songs that could’ve been on any of her other eras. It serves its purpose. Kim also put a bit of her vision on it, as she wanted to include references to the music she grew up listening to - we can notice that on Alone, KOH, Claws, Thousand Pieces, CITS… then the rest was basically Republic grouping together possible future-hits. Problématique on the other hand is classic Kim. The whole project sounds extremely cohesive and strict to her vision. It’s basically her take to the early 20s sound that everyone else was doing, mixed with some of her own Euro references. It definitely do its thing with her base since we all love it anyways, but it would get lost when it comes to the purpose of introducing her to larger audiences. She had to go all out like she did with FTB And honestly I’m totally okay if she keeps releasing EPs/mixtapes with a cohesive sound/vision for the fans and then more generic studio albums all over the place, attempting to get a hit. Considering she’s still booking some features I think Republic will keep trying to push her to the GP. 2
SweetTalker Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Feed The Beast is not as bad as y’all make it seem to be. Once you find the right flow to make your own tracklist and cut some tracks, the album gets so much better. There was no point in having Sex Talk and Coconuts on FTB when they could’ve been right here.

Considering she’s still booking some features I think Republic will keep trying to push her to the GP. I get what you mean, but let me give you my two cents on this whole thing. Bottom line is Kim should've never signed a big record label deal because they simlpy have no clue how to handle an artist like her. There was no realistic chance for her to be a Dua Lipa or Ariana Grande so stripping her of her personality and forcing her into releasing auto pilot music that lacks the Kim Petras touch as a compromise for potential mainstream appeal is laughable at best and plain sad. Short recap, Feed the Beast is the most critically panned album of the year, most fans dislike it as released, discourse always revolves around "if you move track x and add track y next to z and switch this and that it's kinda good" which is... well, that shouldn't happen ever especially for a big label release. Feed the Beast was the first Kim project that had no cohesion, no pull and made no sense. Not even Kim herself can describe the album properly other than "the album that Republic wanted". Ever since she signed with them things have turned sour and she's been visibly depressed. They only gave her two music videos, Future Stars Now and Alone, and the Steven Klein photoshoot which was shelved until literally yesterday. Kim Petras is living proof that record label companies need to be abolished. They have no clue about the current state of the music world and its consuption and how they should act and react. Even when they attempted to make Alone a moment with the misleading snippet of the chorus the only thing they achieved was backlash on every single one of her TikToks with the song calling it the disappointment of the year. She shouldn't have to compromise and take a step back to be introduced to an audience who definitely wasn't going to embrace her on the delusional A list pop star level they've been aiming for. It's just not viable or realistic. Or needed. Feed the Beast is a mess both sonically and tracklist wise, has no artistic direction or purpose. It would've been a nice hype EP ala **** Pop with 4-5 songs at best if anything, but not a full lenght "debut" album. As for the bolded, exactly. Kim's vision and awareness of self and her base is obvious with this project. Era 1, Clarity, TOTL and even **** Pop made so much sense for what each of them are, as does Problematique (minus the fact that a few of the songs got chopped for Feed the Beast and I think they fit better on Problematique). Compromising artistic integrity and your own small loyal fanbase in favor of the chance of momentary attention from the general public is less than smart. I hope she gets out of the deal as soon as she can. Kim should absolutely focus on a trajectory ala Slayyyter, Carly Rae towards small cult classic but always loyal type of career, like she was doign up until signing with Republic and since everything went downhill. Sorry for the long rant omg 1
#Beautiful Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 (edited) oh and her saying to the press that she just randomly thought of releasing problematique before tour because she thought it would be cool for people to have it screams and hollers damage control from the label because if she could've just this easily released the project in the first place we wouldn't be here and it doesn't add up period Edited September 19, 2023 by #Beautiful

bestfiction Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Will this count towards her seven (?) album deal with her label? Do we have any idea?
BlowYourMind Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Yeah, I remember when it was announced that she signed with a major there was a lot of hesitation. This was the same woman who at the start of her career would release a good to great single every month. Once a year basically gave us a full project in the TOTL volumes, and then had a great rollout with Clarity. What she needs is something like BMG, she has artistic freedom and they will give her the funds she needs. She has her #1 single with Unholy, now what she needs to do is focus on building/rebuilding the cult following she was garnering about 3 years ago. I’m so happy she got to release this album but it’s obviously still a shell of the potential it could have had. 1

The debut is meant to sell an audience on an artist and often sort of sets the groundwork for what makes that artist unique - Clarity is literally the DNA of Kim on full display. FTB is her sophomore (I can accept calling it her major label debut) and I haven't decided on Problematique but its length and release strategy has me leaning towards mixtape. 1
