It makes so much sense why Olivia wanted to stop talking about Taylor after being bombarded by Taylor questions during Sour launch.

This nonresponse already drove the gays crazy over an imaginery feud, and eclipsed the album launch.

You literally support rich white privileged women like Jeff Bezos of pop music and that relic from 2003 stealing from teenagers. And I’m xenophobic??

If that was true they could've easily contested it in court, so there's a good reason why they didn't

Lol be for real. A teenage girl on her first album is going to go to court against one of the biggest artists in the world. She’d ruin her career before she even got a chance to really start it. The pr nightmare and media circus sh**storm that would’ve been…

Taylor and her team had an immense power and financial advantage in this situation and they knew it.

Although I personally believe that Olivia now knows that a) this would’ve been laughed out of court and b) Taylor, etc wouldn’t have wanted the pr mess either. Cause best believe all of Taylor’s own plagiarism allegations would’ve been put right in the spotlight. I’m sure Olivia wishes she would’ve stood up for herself and her music and not given in but it is what it is at this point. But she has every right in the world to be upset about it and write about it if she wants to. (I’m still predicting The Grudge will be about it but we’ll see in a few days)

That's right, you are racist and xenophobic or why are you calling her an immigrant? Is it because her last name? Her nationality is american just like hayley or taylor. get over it, dumbass.

A ‘rando’ that Taylor was a huge fan of. He tweeted and deleted something once. He even jokes about the situation now. But absolutely could’ve and should’ve gotten writing credits. Word for word. An entire line of a song. And a song he could’ve proved she’d listened to.

And? Taylor listens to The Weepies, does that make them well known?

He deleted it because he has no backbone :giraffe: if he had all the proofs then he's an idiot for not suing, it seems he had the upper hand

If you knew what you were talking about you could discern for yourself whether or not the lyrics, melody, or harmony are the same by listening to them. For example, the verse of Taylor's song 'Paper Rings' has the same melody as the verse of 'Breathe In, Breathe Out' by Hilary Duff. You can go listen to them yourself and hear that. And the melody of the chorus for 'Wildest Dreams' is the same as the melody to 'Without You' by Lana. You can go listen to them yourself. Cruel Summer and Deja Vu are not the same. Go listen for yourself. They just aren't the same.

Who knows why Olivia and/or her team conceded on this point. Maybe they wanted to avoid the press of a lawsuit. Especially since this was her debut and she had mentioned Taylor so frequently in the press. Court isn't just court if you're a public figure. There's the PR angle as well. Many people would see a clip of her saying she was inspired by 'Cruel Summer' and misunderstand that as meaning plagiarism occurred (see: this thread). Or maybe they didn't want the appearance of a feud with such a huge figure as Taylor Swift. I don't know. There are many reasons people want to stay out of court. But the fact that it didn't go to court is not relevant as to whether or not the lyrics, melody, or harmony are the same. People don't always take legal action just because they can (see: Lana and Hilary opting NOT to sue Taylor for blatant plagiarism).

Taylor was kind of in her plagiarism bag on Lover cause this similarity is always so funny to me:

The overlapping melody, production, and lyrics nkjnkjn :toofunny3:

@Allie X sis I found a way to fund the next album!!

Jack might’ve not been aware because Taylor demanded the writers credit? Cruel Summer is Taylor Swift’s song. Do you really think out of the blue 50% of the royalties are split? If jack wasnt aware that further proofs Taylor was likely the one that demanded credit. Or it was St. Vincent but that was literally a co-writer on a few parts of the song.

It’s not St Vincent, she had zero involvement- Olivia and Annie have actually grown to be close, with Olivia just recently expressing that she’s an idol/inspiration of hers.

take that as you will :heart2:

Taylor has spent a decade+ writing nasty shady songs about people and making bank over it. Her fans throwing a tantrum in here when her own tactics are being used against her by a younger and talented star is just :fish:

I was told that Taylor is a mastermind who has full control over her career but now they’re saying that she had no say in this entire fiasco and it was beyond her control?

What’s the truth?

This right here.

She knows exactly what she's doing and nothing goes on in her career that doesn't have her personal stamp of approval. The innocent princess act...give me a break

I feel like people forget that Hailey or whatever her name is literally bragged about it on social media as well. Exploitive as hell. I cant stand seeing a mediocre white woman lke Hailey Williams make fun of exploiting a Philipino woman that has more talent.

I know you're a troll and you LOVE pinning women against eachother and throwing stale, hollow and unsubstantiated arguments left and right, but to say Olivia Rodrigo is a more talented artist than Hayley ******* Williams is just plain delusion, to the point that not even the Olivia stans themselves would even dare to say/think that. Also you seem more invested/interested in Taylor than in your own fave Katy Perry :deadbanana4:

If taylor can take 50% of deja vu for a small part of the song, she should give lana 100% of wildest dreams

It just dumbfounds me that she would even engage in this and the precedent it sets, I say as a fan. Just like her paper-thin political moves, it makes me think everything regarding TVs is money motivated rather than the positive PR tale she spun.

I think they meant Hilary Duff and Lana Del Rey not suing. And Evan and Jaron and Saving Jane for I'd Lie similarities (but that track is unreleased as of yet), Matt Nathanson for a lifted lyric in All Too Well, Panic! At The Disco for the 'don't threaten me with a good time' lyric, ETC.

They all have the freedom and money to sue Taylor for plagiarism if they want to, let's see who the court sides with based on actual evidence, just like Taylor did. :supaspaz:

You're writing this as if almost every artist on Earth haven't had a song/album written about people they dislike, things they loathe, bad relationship or unfortunate moments :ahh:.  Even your faves have made bank talking about their exes, their ex friends, etc. Mine (Lana, BANKS, Beyoncé, Taylor, Amy, Lorde, Carly) sure as hell have made a lot of money singing about their failed relationships and trashy, messy exes and friends. Don't act like Taylor is the only one doing it, or that is wrong for someone to capitalize off of their own personal experiences.  :ahh: It must be PAINFUL having almost NOTHING to use against Taylor, but this screams hypocrisy.

Your personal attacks aren't a good look girl, it says more about you than it says about me :lmao:Again, if you're so sure Taylor plagiarised these artists to the point they should be paid royalties, then you should send their lawyers a personal letter attaching your 100% "NON-FRAUDULENT!!!" evidence and inviting them to collectively sue Miss Taylor Alison Swift, it won't be the first time someone tries to do so anyway :lmao:

Why did you leave out the other ones I mentioned? Oh, right, we all know why :rip:

As for the Matt Nathanson lyric, "And I'll forget about you long enough to forget why I need to" (from I Saw) is the same as "And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to" (from All Too Well). Maybe check your reading comprehension? They're literally the exact same.
