If you personally don’t like those things about her music that’s perfectly fine. But to claim her success doesn’t match the quality quite literally indicates you think that your opinions on her music should outweigh everyone else’s. No one persons musical preferences matter over another’s. I wish y’all would stop acting so high and mighty just because Taylor can’t sing with melisma or vibrato :rip:

Get the memo: we do not care. If we want to hear a vocalist sing, we know where to find them. Taylor is widely enjoyed because of her talent for combining emotion with memory. Two incredibly powerful components of the human mind.

so you live for basic music… got it :foxaylove2:

Once again girl if you’re here for a “singer” there’s a lot of failed The Voice winners you can follow. I think a lot of non-fans underestimate the emotional connection a lot of us have to the songs themselves

Like?? You know how many vocalists run through The Voice and American Idol every single year? And their careers go … nowhere. It’s almost like vocals aren’t the key to being successful or acclaimed !!!!!!

well she’s a singer so a good vocal is a lot more important… your fave should honestly take a few notes :foxaylove2:

That doesn’t even make sense as a response 💀 you know albums, the main thing a musician has, are not live vocals right?

Don’t get them started they’re gonna post the Love on the Brain performance they’ve been holding onto for nearly a decade. They try to act like she’s leagues above Taylor vocally when they sit at the exact same table. I love Rih down but she is no Bey, Gaga, Ariana, Kelly, Adele, Christina, Jhud, Demi, Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan, nothing of the sort. Rihanna is right down here in the C Tier with Taylor and Katy.

These are her biggest hits lol

I like a few of her songs, but the constant praise and zealots on ATRL need to get checked once in awhile.

THANK YOU. Anyone thinking Rihanna is a "vocalist" is just massively delusional.

If cherry-picking was an effective way to discuss things like this then we could talk about her signature song All Too Well, which was named the 69th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone, listed among the best songs of this century and the 2010s by multiple publications, nominated in a songwriting Grammy category that most people think she should have won, named the best breakup song of all time by Billboard, and made into the subject of a full ten-week Stanford University course, but I’m sure you’ll find something wrong with that song too, or with the fact that I listed these things as support instead of doing my own analysis of the lyrics’ quality, or who knows what else

It's her massive, arrogant, and over-defensive fanbase unfortunately.

Some of Taylor's music is enjoyable when you don't have thousands of Swifties in your ear telling you she's the best artist of all time

This is a pretty uninformed take. Taylor herself has talked about the fact she intentionally writes silly, goofy, light hearted songs when she wants to write a pop smash. But those pop smashes are really just the surface of her catalogue. The reason she’s so big is the quality of her album cuts is beyond comprehension when compared to her radio singles. Like no one would have thought We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together was on the same album as State of Grace or All Too Well in 2012, it’s taken years of cultism for that kind of information to permeate the public. Meanwhile other pop stars typically have good singles but weak album tracks.

Not this 💀 when the first thing swifties usually bring up when her big numbers are revealed is that she did it without resorting to selling sex as if women expressing their sexuality was something inherently wrong lmao

it's their choice and women should do what they want to do with their music but I also feel like alot of antis call Taylor "bland" just based of the fact that she doesn't bend into the sex appeal spectrum much which I feel is quite a shallow overview

Is she off limits? The way people try to force everyone to like their fav and how dare you NOT :skull:

Where in Atrl? It probably has to do with the swifties being obnoxious from time to time because other than that there's no reason to hate a talented girl who works her ass off and cares about her fans.

That Rolling Stone list was a disaster which included a BTS song over tons of classics so it’s automatically invalid, it shouldn’t and won’t be taken seriously in regards to quality.

That said, yes All Too Well is great and rightfully acclaimed.

It's honestly because humans love to divide themselves over anything :skull: the whole us vs them mentality, and both sides are guilty of it. Both sides use her stats as a measure of quality when that just isn't logical. Swifties act like she's the best artist ever solely because she's wildly successful and that if you don't like her, you're just jealous of her success - haters act like she doesn't deserve the amount of success she has just because her music isn't to their taste. Both mindsets are stupid.

I particularly loved Folklore and Evermore, but the rest of her discography has never been for me. And sure, the constant onslaught of Taylor news/videos/etc on social media, or people mentioning her in day to day, can be really annoying when you aren't a fan. But I'll never act like she doesn't work hard for her success, or that any of that is somehow her fault.

And sidenote - honestly, some of yall love to say she "plays the victim", and maybe she has sometimes, but you just give her fanbase reason to feel it's justified when you villainize her for the dumbest **** :skull:

is that why TIWYCF whooped taylor’s ass when she tried to sing it? :bibliahh:

It’s her pathetic fanbase and the praise while she’s doing the bare minimum.
