Her stan base who refuse any criticism on her and her numbers doesn't help. Like reaching 3000 views on YT is not the same as selling a 10$-20$ album. (My kid account has 30K views lol) And just because you may enjoy her music does not make you less of a success stan either, her success plays a big role why so many here have her name in their signature. Can you post an example of popular not 4th grade music? Would love to see what the bar supposedly is
Solaria Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Any artist at Taylor’s level of fame will have a ton of haters as well. She isn’t alone in this 1
Selegend Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) being focused on songwriting / making truly great albums and succeeding more than the popstars that focus on serving... for pop culture. and on top of that, when she focused on serving for pop culture (1989 & Reputation) she also succeed cuz she kept her excellence in songwriting and making good albums without a lot of fillers. So some people are just jealous that they'd rather a woman with an alter-ego doing a crazy era with 3 costumes on the same performance being the #1 in the world than taylor swift. but the #1 is taylor swift. AxelFox Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 She's not disliked, her fans are just incredibly obnoxious nowadays and that gets a response in return. They weaponize her stats and accolades not only to show she's the biggest artist out there right now, but also to paint her as 'the best' which is very clearly not the case for anybody that is not a die hard fan. She's written some nice music for sure but her artistry is still very middle of the road and puerile and her capabilities as a live performer and entertainer are below average. Yet somehow Spotify streams and tour tickets are supposed to prove us otherwise. She works harder and smarter than anybody else out there right now and deserves her success, but she wouldn't be getting so much heat if her fans wouldn't use that to pass her off as something she is clearly not. 12 7
MingYouToo Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Don't let the disdain from a few of these 80s/90s pop music was great when my fav did it stans fool you from the reality that the average music listener who just listens to get by through their 9 to 5 either is ambivalent to Taylor Swift or fucks with her music hard. The whole disliking Taylor bc she's a cringy white girl is now caveman behavior/mentality tbh, your average citizen either doesn't care or likes her. 1
ariananext Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 It's either jealousy, misogyny or her fanbase.
KKW Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I’m lost @ the jealousy takes because literally no one on this forum is a pop star so what is there to be jealous of I know her stans live through her achievements so it’s easy to come to the conclusion of envy but not all of us live through our faves… 14
RockStarShit101 Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 i don't dislike taylor but i think she can do so much than midnights or lover 1

JonginBey Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I’ve been a Taylor stan for over a decade, and for me, it’s usually always the Swifties that make my love for her feel so complicated and inconsistent. I just really don’t like them. Their behavior, their superiority complex, the racism towards Beyoncé every time I get on Twitter, etc. I’m learning to enjoy her and her music in my own lonesome (that sounds dramatic, but I couldn’t think of another way to explain it ). 3 1 2

OT: She hasn't even received anywhere near the hate other pop stars have received She's a huge star and she's bound to be disliked by some but I haven't seen her get much hate. I am green of envy in regards to that I admit, but that's not something to make me dislike her, on the contrary it's something I admire and wish on every fanbase to receive. 5 1
Digitalism Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 As most poo girls on their peak the problem is never them but the fan base being annoying

Jealousy has a lot of nuances, it's not just "I want that for me". Also kind of cackling at people saying "she's girl next door and not your typical pop star" uhm yes she is? Have you seen the eras tour? There's nothing bad about being a pop star, what is this overly sexual = pop star equation? A pop star is a popular artist who makes pop music, she has 10 shimmery outfits, doing choreos with her dancers and serving a pop show - even doing a sexier performance on her latest tour -, she's thee pop star.

Popular Post Pop Art Posted September 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2023 It depends on the person. There definitely is a lot of jealousy in the chart centric sector of the stan world, but to boil it all down to that isn't fair. I also think the behavior of her stans has a negative effect on non-Swifties in the stan world and sours (no pun intended ) their view on Taylor, but that would be the case of pretty much any artist and their stans in Taylor's position so that's not something exclusive to her/them. A broader reason many (including myself) have for not really vibing with her for the most part is her success far outmatches what we feel to be the quality of her craft. This is the exact same reason I mostly don't vibe with Ed Sheeran, Marvel, Adele in 2011-2012 and many, many other things the GP eats (or used to eat) in droves yet I can barely stomach or just don't seem to "get". It's unspeakably annoying to have someone or something constantly shoved down your throat as if it's the best thing to ever happen when to you, it's mostly just...meh, or at best just good. This is a totally subjective take of course but that makes it the most reasonable and fair one I feel. I and many others (though clearly we're still in the minority, and that's okay) just don't think her singing, performing, and writing ability (yes, you read that last part right), musical and visual output, and overall brand deserve the outrageous level of success and/or acclaim that they get. Does it keep me up at night? No, but it's definitely grating when you seemingly can't escape it and that sometimes has to be let out. Again, this idea goes beyond Taylor (well, for me at least), she's just the specific topic we're discussing here. At the end of the day, I still like a surprising amount of songs from her and definitely like 1989 and reputation pretty much as whole albums, I just don't think her success matches her output for the most part. I still wish her the best, if not just a little less success. Queue the dislikes, quoting me with my avi attempting to do something, and general outrage! 17 2

Yep, same thing for me. I mostly stay in peaceful environments (threads in this case) when it comes to Taylor because I just can't side with her fans when they discuss anything, of course this is not about all of them but you know what I mean, that's kind of how they were trained I guess. They're even unbearable with their demand, I feel like most of them treats her as if she was some kind of toy, they can't accept when she does something wrong and that's not a good thing because she's always expressed she felt the pressure of perfection growing up. 1
thismoment Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 She had this victim mentality in the past which was annoying but most people just dislike her because of her fans that act like she’s the second coming of Jesus, when in reality she’s just a successful artist. 1
Axolotl Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Any discounting her talent and artistry are clearly delusional. She has proven time and time again that she IS a living legend, and no random person in the internet can refute that with their unwarranted and unneeded opinions. 1 1
tshwark Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Mmmm, some people like big voices, others like Indie sounds and others like to be entertained by big performances, dancing, easy as that.
