It has been widely reported over the last few months that Taylor Swift's Eras Tour has notably boosted the US economy, based on an article from the Federal Reserve. Journalist Noah Pransky, an NBC correspondent, investigated and found the articles reporting this weren't exactly true...

The full thread can be found via this tweet.

Did Taylor's PR team purposefully spread these news stories to bolster attention to her tour? Let's discuss.

Duh!

Her team has been planting stories about her “unmatched success” with countless media outlets being on her payroll.

I think I'll trust the report of the Federal Reserve, CNN, The New York Times, Bloomberg, etc over a Twitter thread

But if that's what certain stans need to hold on to in order to cope, sure

You can't blame some fanbases and their trust problems with known publications when some of those publications (or PR team behind them that purposefully spread these news stories to bolster attention to those tours) claimed 2.2B for tours that would end up with <600M gross

Why do they keep trying it with Taylor? She's so inoffensive.

We're VERY clearly witnessing Beatles fever here. The amount of coping people are doing is bizarre. It comes off as "well, I don't like her, so she must not be successful". :rip:

Are you saying that claims of her tour being the highest grossing tour of all time actually fake?

Noah P is a known Beyonce stan and "journalists" like him always feel the need to put Taylor down because of course, praising Beyonce is not enough, you HAVE to attack someone else's success too of course. The insecurity is just hilarious.

And the fun part is, the OP had no issue celebrating the same economic impact numbers in this thread when Beyoncé was involved:

We love a showcase of good old hypocrisy.

Wouldn't it be hypocritical if I 'celebrated' those numbers after this journalist had investigated and found that the reports had been misleading or falsely reported? I'd love to know how it is hypocrisy to do that before that knowledge. :)

Hive doing anything to cope with being the #2 girl. It's not a bad thing, just accept it and move on.  Guess who is more desperate for PR

Thanks Noah for discovering that Taylor Swift is not actually stopping the US from entering a recession :clap3:

Now that you have discovered this, I can also tell you as a secret that she is also not responsible of AMC Theatres stock going up, Barbie didn't provoke a pink color shortage and Beyonce didn't put Sweden into inflation.

And now that you know how clickbait and media hyperbole works, you can also go after those "Taylor Swift is destroying the planet with her private jet" headlines :dies:

Once again this fanbase shows their hyporcrisy

Nothing new here

These are same people who want the exact same headline for their fave but now when it's always #2 they makes lies

It's been the case since May:ahh:

Please don't put your personal issues onto me, I've never been a Taylor Swift hater or had an issue with her tour. So don't misrepresent me. You can find the misleading news found in his investigation in the Twitter thread, he lists it all there. Hence why it's listed in the OP.

Her team doesn't have to plant stories when the evidence is right in front of your eyes. This is so dumb omg :ahh:

Guys He annexed the legal documents. He's not lying. It's just PR. It's not that deep nor is it going to hurt Taylor.

Of course they did. Beyonce has one of the best PR teams in the business, they're always doing stuff like that.
