People in Europe/the west are more into relatable or less « manufactured » artists. That’s why Billie, Melanie, Olivia are selling well. Then we have SZA and Summer for the rnb girlies etc. Meanwhile the traditional pop artists like we used to have back then are flopping. No one care about Zara and Victoria Monét despite them being excellent performers. 
 

I don’t see how the manufactured trainee system ls going to work outside countries who don’t already consume Kpop.

Well you’re right in that, and I guess Billie and Olivia are popstars, altho they make alt-inspired music. But with ‘popstars’ I meant the Dua type of girls, that dance, sing and perform. And she blew up really after having seemingly went to ~popstar bootcamp

It’s true that Dua improved her dancing due to the memes, but she’s still not comparable to what female pop stars used to do back then and she’s def not the route HYBE is following with their trainee system.
 

I’m sure that Don’t start now and Levitating would have smashed even if she didn’t improved! 
 

Like we had LM dancing their a** off everywhere putting big performances and yet only the UK cares lol!

i already talked about the culture being too different in the west in the other thread but while reading this one i remembered about black swan, another international group, and all the mess that happened with the members 

 

the western girlies just cannot comprehend the concept of a group like the asian girlies and i'm afraid this hybe thing might be even messier 

 

add to the mix that all of them are kpop stans and you end up with stan twitter level of mess but in a kpop group
