Xbox Series consoles have sold less 10% units than Xbox One so far in the USA

Like...how is this possible when they have a console that's on sale for 300$ which last gen didn't have :rip:

And this is on Xbox's main market...WW it's even worse. It's almost getting outsold by the PS5 3:1...and in Germany it's getting outsold 10:1

All this in a time we're realizing subscriptions are everywhere and people have stopped signing to them like they expected, which also includes Gamepass's numbers to be stalled for years already (which is Xbox main bet for more than half a decade):

Do you think it's possible we'll see Xbox leaving the hardware market to become a 3rd party publisher (one of the biggest ones in the world tbh) after this gen or will they continue to try and flop?

Hardware is down 10% from 10 years ago but they've transitioned xbox into a SaaS company. Plus their biggest exclusive since the 360 is coming out in a few days.

That's unfortunate, I absolutely love my Series X!

I don’t think Starfield will drive Xbox sales. Since it’s also on PC and on PC Gamepass. More people are using PC now. PS has the strong exclusives, and that will continue to drive PS5. If Microsoft makes Xbox exclusives not on PC that are quality. That will help Xbox sales.

xbox as a company sells software and subscriptions now. PC eating up their console division is part of the strategy since their parent company gets a licensing fee on every PC sold or built.

stupid fad

playstation and switch are the only relevant console girls in 2023.

Yes I know. Microsoft knows it’s a better strategy to pivot towards PC. The main issue I have is the subscription model. Subscriptions aren’t good for various reasons.

and the games are still available for standalone purchase for people who wouldn't get any value from the subscriptions. I'll be purchasing Starfield for my PC outright when I have the time to play it. :bird:

Pretending Xbox didn't want to sell as many consoles as before is a lie and you know it sis. They literally released that Xbox Series S potato for 300$ when they could've just done SeriesX for the same price as the PS5 and be done with it. Now they are making their games considering the weakest console: the Series S.

And saying they care about subscriptions now...Gamepass is 6 years old. That's more than half a decade. They haven't announced any numbers since it surpassed 25M almost 2 years ago, meaning it hasn't reached 30M.

This means their biggest bet is also stalling for them. MS themselves have mentioned each year how they expected much bigger increases for Gamepass than they are getting.

Let's see if buying out the entire industry will work for them with Bethesda and Activision.

Good. The sooner Gamepass comes to Playstation, the better.

Their hardware sales shrunk 10% in a 10 year period when their focus shifted to software and you're talking about the company closing up shop and writing non-sequitur essays because you have some kind of emotional attachment to the profitability of Microsoft.

You could divide my PS5 or Switch playtime by 50 and they'd still be bigger numbers than any xbox console. I was just pointing out the flaw in your logic.

Sad that the sony ponies are this desperate for games, when Xbox is about to launch one of the biggest games this decade next week

You mean Starfield? I'm not in a hurry to play that. My backlog is huge, something Xbox only gamers don't have since you need games for that.

I'll play Starfield once Gamepass is on PS. :sistrens:

TBH I prefer my Xbox X over my PS5. I don't even know why I bought the PS5 at this point.

Gamepass is rich with games if you haven't noticed, so we've been fed with classic and recent games over on the Xbox side for years :gaycat2:

All I see on my time line are ponies complaining and hating that they'll have to wait a very long time to play Starfield, IF that ever happens :fan:

Xbox is for virgins. PS and Nintendo are for chads.

Xbox needs to abandon consoles and stick to game pass and PC. They clearly aren't competent enough to make good console selling games anymore. That's why they have to buy studios instead of making their own first party games. Halo: Infinite and Redfall are clear examples of this.

And like, Starfield is NOT going to sell Xbox consoles. It's 30 FPS on consoles and will run a hell of a lot worse than on a PC which can also get 60 FPS. You can also just rent it for $15 instead of buying the game fully which will cannibalize sales itself.

Xbox backed themselves into a corner and they're paying the price for it now

I'm not sure about this post Xbox X/slS was ahead of Xbox One in the parallel first 27 months. Which was January 2023. There is no ways it's all the sudden 10% down. I'm not saying that it couldn't be down about not by 10%. In May of 2023 X/S was still above the One by 1 million consoles.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Xbox is not Microsoft’s breadwinner, right? Like, that’s just another source of income for the company but not something the company is totally dependent on. I’m sure they’ll be fine. They do need better exclusives though, because I still haven’t played my Series S despite having it for two years now.

It’s because it has no games worth getting. I guess with starfield that might change but that game is also on pc and it looks

They spent 8 billion and now 60 billion more acquiring studios to try and hurt the competition by taking away games but nobody cares. :skull:
