Is The Lion King Overrated?

It’s always been my favorite Disney movie but ngl, the live action version did make it seem boring.

Regardless, the animated version is still my favorite.

No, it's definitely not overrated. It's not my personal fave, but it's deservedly beloved. Aladdin has always been my fave Disney Renaissance film.

It's just your vegan brain acting up. TLK is a classic, and the soundtrack stands the test of time unlike the 2 irrelevant song you mentioned

Yes, watch Waking Sleeping Beauty. Great doc on the Disney Renaissance era. Disney thought TLK was B-list because it was about animals. They gave it the B-list team who weren't even working on the lot. They were stuck in a warehouse.

They were SHOOK when they saw the opening scene...and then it became the 2nd highest grossing film of all time, best selling video of all time, spawned a Diamond certified album, billions in merch, and the highest grossing Broadway show of all time. It's estimated that no single film has ever generated more profit.

TLK is evergreen. The 3D re-release last decade was massive. It opened to $30M and stayed #1 for multiple weeks.

Spirited Away, Spider-Verse, Mulan, Shrek 2, Coraline, The Incredibles, Beauty and The Beast sweeties I am so sorry.

Only Spirited Away is top tier. The rest are good but not better than Lion King.

It’s very overrated and pretty run of the mill.
