movie Is The Lion King Overrated?

I never got the hype. Growing up it what probably one of my least watched Disney Renaissance movies. I even prefer Pocahontas to TLK, even Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty, or the original Snow White. I just always found the movie SO BORING, especially after Mufasa’s death. Scar can’t compare to other Disney villains, and I never go back to any of the songs on the soundtrack. I even prefer The Rescuers movies to TLK, and think only the opening Circle of Life segment and Scar’s death stick out.

The Lion King is great but Mulan, Hercules and Tarzan are the best Disney Renaissance movies. Especially Mulan.

It's good, but not as good as everyone says tbh. I wouldn't put it in a top5 animated Disney movies.

Yep, Mulan is superior to TLK in every way, and I’ll Make A Man Out Of You and Won’t Say I’m In Love DEVOUR every TLK song.

It's definitely one of the  best and most moving disney movies, people love to downplay a movie's greatness when it becomes too popular (i.e.Titanic, Frozen)

I liked it as a kid but rewatching a few years ago it was kinda basic. I think the music is the best part of it.

The original Lion king is watchable though, but the live action is honestly one of the worst movie i seen in theater.

i think it’s accurately rated because it’s one of the best, if not the best. Mufasa’s death scene alone is enough to warrant it’s beloved status imo. there are even compilations of dogs being deeply affected by that scene. the emotional resonance of TLK literally transcends species  if other Disney Renaissance films are this effective on that level, i would like to see it.
