Both have step-by-step rotation on iHeart stations. It's really Roar/Applause situation right now.

lol not a roar vs applause situation while serving numbers like this

great numbers for both considering they're droplets

lol ppl are too quick to write off based on 1st day... like didnt ppl write off Doja Cat's Paint The Town Red after 1st day too ?

Miley's going to have a gradual increase and by Wednesday she's going to settle into both US & Global top 5 Spotify, then the radio promotion's going to help stablize the song

I would've said the same thing before the song dropped, I'm not delusional, I thought the posters and the BS on TV were a cute way of hyping her fans, nothing more. Never expected them to have any effect on the debut numbers. Just like they didn't have any effect on Flowers, which wouldn't have been as big without TikTok.

But Flowers had a great debut because of the promo. The Tiktok stuff didn't affect its first day streams that much.

The shade towards Selena tho. Selena is the queen of longevity probably both of them gonna  increase a lot in 3/4 days

Those country-by-country positions are quite abysmal...

There were many viral tweets/TikToks regarding Liam cheating and Bruno Mars before the song dropped actually

They are so close everywhere. Solid numbers for both songs :clap3:

1.6M is a great US debut for Miley, #2 without the album bomb

Miley’s biggest solo debut after Flowers :clap3:

I have a question: are the numbers for Australia based on the Australian calendar (so both songs got only 10 hours of streaming) or on the US/NY time calendar?

Practically the same number of streams worldwide. :clap3:

I'm not saying which one is better or worse. I'm just stating what they did.

And to be fair, Selena hasn't posted about the song yet. Only that ex-wife video days before the song dropped.

And c'mon, even if Tiktok promo is the best, let's not pretend like #1 on the biggest playlists of Spotify/AM or YouTube adds are not effective. Let alone radio deals.

Miley has TikTok promo paid and Selena hasn't. What shocked me is that they are using fan videos as promo (it says promoted on TikTok) not videos made by Miley or the label, one of them said "Miley ending a cycle using a tshirt with Mickey Mouse on it" (in Spanish), it had like 400k likes and it was promoted.

Yes, Selena has a huge following there but has not used it to promote the song or say it's out.

Selena have has a slightly better position on Spotify but it was still less playlisted than Miley, and Miley has had better promo on AM and Youtube, better radio deals (and WW) and social media promo. This is not bad, it's actually great, I wish Selena's team would have gone out like this.

These are actually cute numbers considering the quality of both songs :rip: I don't see them lasting but anything is possible dd

These numbers are exactly what I expected from them tbh. Idk why some people seem disappointed in this thread tho

Neither of these songs were lead singles for a new album so I don’t really see why people would call these numbers tragic?

Not every one is a Taylor Swift, nor should we expect them to be :michael:

yes, right? Both are just droplets, there's no reason to expect 10M DEBUT

Y'all acting like Miley and Selena are some huge pop girls that would debut with 10M+:rip:

If anything debuting in the 3-5M range is huge for them.  Especially Selena. All her latest releases flopped in debuts

I like the song but it seems quite slow to have that kind of longevity

It's kinda going viral and increasing on YouTube. So I think an increase on Spotify is coming

Awe but I thought Selena fans said she coming to destroy Miley?

No one was expecting Flowers-like numbers for Used to be Young, so there's a few of you that'll need to troll a bit harder to convince anyone. When it's all said and done, this will just be a cute 4th single for ESV, not even a re-release single.

The global numbers could've been a bit better, but she did great, and certainly more than expected, in the US. This is her second biggest solo debut there, she was just unlucky with the country album bomb.

I don't see any Selenas stans saying this. There are a couple of selenas obsessed haters saying shits like this to set Selena up but you can't take them seriously

Solid numbers for both. Especially considering both of their most recent solo efforts haven’t been big hits.
