Literally everywhere

It was promoted as same approach as Flowers

Lyrics and posters everywhere and teasing just like Flowers

Flowers success was a result of the fan theories that made it go viral on TikTok though. Posters and teasing can only do so much lol

Am I not aware of some big promo UTBY got?

But got huge promo. Miley got YouTube ads, radio deal and best AM promo (+ #2 on TTH).

Selena got #1 on TTH + cover. Not sure if she got a radio deal or not but it's definitely not as good as Miley's. She also got great playlisting on Apple Music, but not as good as Miley.

Basically Miley took over AM and Selena had more Spotify support.

Edit: Miley has also been hyping up the release for weeks

You have to be joking. :rip:

I'm not :coffee2: posters in big cities and airing the Backyard Sessions where she doesn't even sing the song are basically useless promo.

great numbers for both :clap3:

tbh it had the same promo / roll-out of Flowers, just without the tiktok drama.

It's 2023, Selena's viral TikTok is better promo than any ads on Youtube/AM. And let's not talk about Miley's "hyping" method, uploading a picture from a photoshoot and/or a preview of an interview with the same damn caption every single day :skull:

Not really. She has just changed thumbnails, but it was just a stylistic approach.

Right. And which of those two made Flowers a big hit?

Anyway I'm bored! Good numbers for both songs! :clap3:

So you're fully aware of the big promo the song got, you're just choosing to downplay it because it didn't pay off as you expected. :rip:

Expected more from Selena since she had her recent tiktok controversy. I guess it didn’t work. Lol :rip:

Recent?It happened in February.

Miley has been getting great promo, playlisting and everything since she switched labels so yes it's a bit underwhelming in that regard

But it's better than many of her debuts so ig she did good

Solid numbers for both of them :clap3:

I would've said the same thing before the song dropped, I'm not delusional, I thought the posters and the BS on TV were a cute way of hyping her fans, nothing more. Never expected them to have any effect on the debut numbers. Just like they didn't have any effect on Flowers, which wouldn't have been as big without TikTok.

i mean, the teasers are supposed to generate buzz which of which could or could not translate to tiktok viral. but to say it isn’t some form of promo isn’t true.

anyway, both of them promoted equally. let’s not act like the social media interactions weren’t talking like this was going to be barbenheimer or roar/applause, and the results aren’t too far off :clap3:

I'm not saying which one is better or worse. I'm just stating what they did.

And to be fair, Selena hasn't posted about the song yet. Only that ex-wife video days before the song dropped.

And c'mon, even if Tiktok promo is the best, let's not pretend like #1 on the biggest playlists of Spotify/AM or YouTube adds are not effective. Let alone radio deals.

Whether or not they had an impact is irrelevant though, because they still factually happened. She built hype for the release with the posters, with the teasers, with replacing all her YouTube thumbnails, with a Disney+ performance. The promo was put in place, supported by decent playlisting and a radio release. So I'm confused as to why you're denying the promo push happened...

Am I the only one that thinks these numbers are great for the both of them? :deadbanana2: The fact that they can still debut in the top 10 on Spotify is fantastic

Expected more, the gap is really small as well.
I hope for longevity but I think both songs will be forgotten really fast (I said the same on Calm Down)
As it seems - Latin America is here for Selena.
Europe is here for Miley. Not surprising.

I thought that they would be fighting for the #1 spot, oh well...

Neither of these songs were lead singles for a new album so I don’t really see why people would call these numbers tragic?

Not every one is a Taylor Swift, nor should we expect them to be :michael:

Hmmmm... Not gonna lie but both seem low numbers, especially Selena's.

Good for them. Shocked Miley is doing better. For some reason it seemed like Selena started better on other formats but Miley ended up higher everywhere.

it's the same on Youtube

around 8 hours after video premiere, Single Soon got 1.9M views while UTBY got 1.3M views

however by the end of 1st day, Single Soon got 5.5M views while UTBY nearly caught up at 5.1M views

Selena has never done well first day on streaming except for Lose You to Love Me

the queen is all about longevity as we can all see seeing that she has 5 (soon to be 7) 1B songs only behind Rih, Ari, Dua and Billie :gaycat2:
