Chemist Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Hitmaker of her generation Compare the UK charts vs the US charts
AidanUnderYou Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Dance The Night broke the record for longest climb to #1 in its initial Top 20 run “Reaching the summit on its 13th consecutive week in the Top 20, Dance The Night has had an uneven passage to the apex, moving 20-13-15-17-17-20-16-15-4-3-3-2-1, fading after a good start only to flourish anew when the Barbie film came out. In the whole of chart history, no other track has reached No.1 this late in its initial Top 20 run. Previous record holder The Moulin Rouge Theme (Where Is Your Heart) aka Song From Moulin Rouge by Mantovani & His Orchestra, had a 12-week gestation way back in 1953, when the chart was only a Top 10. The last No.1 to arrive at the summit later in its first run on the Top 75 was Shotgun by George Ezra, which got there in its 14th frame (only five of them in the Top 20) in 2018.” Bonus : “Lady Gaga’s debut album, The Fame, turned 15 this week and the anniversary was marked by the release of a double vinyl edition, which helps it to surge 76-40 (2,573 sales) this week. No.1 for four weeks in 2009, it thus secures its 133rd week in the Top 40 but its first since February 2017. The Fame has achieved overall UK consumption of 3,303,415 units – 2,534,735 physical, 412,589 digital downloads and 356,091 sales-equivalent streams.”

Fitzswiftie Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 also interesting chart fact, this is the 4th time that a soundtrack song has replaced another at #1, and 2nd time both songs were from the same film / series / . • Dance The Night -> What Was I Made For? (August 2023) • Independent Woman Part 1 (Charlie’s Angels) -> Can’t Fight the Moonlight (Coyote Ugly) (November 2000) • Everything I Do (Robin Hood) -> Any Dream Will Do (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) (July 1991) • Summer Holiday -> Foot Tapper (March 1961) (both from The Young Ones)
