This remake isn't a threat to the animated classic any more than the first adaptation was to the *actual* original story.

It's literally the movie that SAVED the studio. If Snow White didn't exist, Disney wouldn't exist. Is it outdated? Sure. It's based on a fairytale written 2 centuries ago. But it deserves RESPECT for all that it meant for the company and for so many people of multiple generations growing up.

And might as well change the entire title and her name, because the actress isn't fitting the description "lips red as the rose, hair black as ebony, and skin white as snow". if you wanna involve the race then the funny thing is if the story had a girl that was black, Latina or Asian and they decided to hire White blonde women in the role, hell will break loose to cancel everything.

 

And what about the 7 dwarfs? Its literally one of the MAIN part of the story, and 6 of them been replaced with people of colors to satisfy them but at the expense of every actor who is person of short stature.

 

There are many great animations that could fit more, Encanto, Coco, Moana and more, make a live action from them, and hire people that fit the description, and give people of colors chances to shine in roles that are great without changing other roles history. Or maybe hire White women or men into those roles and let's see how happy you'll be looool

Because you are committed to missing the point: disliking this movie is NOT inherently racist, but your critique was. You think changing one character's race is changing the entire story because all you got from Snow White, apparently, was that the main character is white girl and that's why the movie was made. It's not a nuanced look at the movie. 

 

Furthermore, ALL we know is the casting and yet here you are, logging on and crying that people are 'erasing history.' just because of who is cast, without mentioning anything re: the actual plot. It's all aesthetics to you. 

 

Again, since you missed it — the original Snow White is a remake. It's not history. It's a folktale. Changing it is not rewriting REAL things that happened in REAL life, so the comparison to history doesn't make sense. People rewrite stories all the time, whether it's fanfiction, roman a clef, whatever — it's a thing that happens in media. 

 

Do you honestly think nobody outside of America cares about racism? BFFR and go outside. It's a real issue across the globe. Read a book or talk to someone, idk

She doesn't even introduce herself as white, she always says she's latina and goes to speak Spanish to say look I'm latina, even the media introduced her as latina and half-latina, because she looks more like latina women then an European white women that her skin is almost as SNOW.
