i don't mind her but those comments were not it

just because a movie might look odd from today's perspective doesn't mean it deservees to be trashed

it was revolutionary for its times and it still holds up pretty well

it's a stunning film, filled with tons of cute and funny moments and endearing characters that are recognizable to many generations

If you have reverence for a cliche, predictable and boring story, that is a you-lacking-taste problem. It is not Rachel's problem.

Every cliche starts as something exciting and impactful. Snow White was the first of its kind and was given a special Oscar for how innovative it was.

You can change and update something without being dismissive of what was a monumental achievement.

all of this... just because she said she didn't like a film? :rip:

She said far more than that. Some links for your investigating pleasure

Snow White is not only the best Disney movie it's one of the most important films ever made. People well outside of Disney adults and stan Twitter have a ton of reverence for it.

If it was a remake of any other universally acclaimed movie that completely revolutionized the industry she'd be crucified for her comments even more.

Snow White is technically a great film and THAT is why it's an important film. Sure, you can revere it for its animation. But to say it's one of the best Disney movies storywise.... yeah, that's a no for me.

Could she have worded her criticism a bit better? Sure. It's also not like she's wrong, the early Disney princesses are so VASTLY different from even the princesses from the 90's let alone the current ones. Also, Disney love promoting their wokeness in their live action remakes (there were a ton of interviews about how Emma Watson removed the corset and made Belle an inventor or whatever), so it's very likely that she was told by Disney themselves to keep saying how the remake was going to empower Snow White.

It honestly, all feels like Disney adults and conservatives were mad that SHE was picked for Snow White and are now just finding a reason to criticize her that they feel doesn't sound racist (kind of how they were mad that Halle's Ariel hair wasn't as red as the animated film just so that they could say they weren't being racist)

oh, thank you for posting these since she actually never even say that she didn't like the original movie and all of her criticisms are valid. :rip:

Didnt think a movie could get more hate than mulan, then came the little mermaid.

Didnt think a movie could get more hate than the little mermaid, now comes snow white.

The controversy has nothing to do with her. SHES NOT THE WRITER OR DIRECTOR

The Brothers Grim would like to have a word from the grave how Disney dismantled their fairy tale  and turned it into a magical romance :giraffe:

Like I said in my post if it was any other classic of this magnitude being scrutinized by the lead of it's remake, the drags would be even worse. No matter how you feel about Disney, Snow White was possibly the only time their film studio was ahead of the pack in every possible way. Very rarely in the history of media did a first attempt at something get so much right about what the genre/medium would go on to be.

Disney PR letting her give these comments about such an important piece of history points toward this being another lazy cashgrab from a corporation that's slowly rotting from the inside-out. If there was ever a live action remake to really show care towards it was this one. People are rightfully outraged. There's always an element of racism at play with any online hate train but to blame ALL of the criticism on that is more than a little intellectually lazy.

I remember Halle talking about TLM so eloquent, iconic and classy, like a stunning MOVIE STAR.

Rachel just sounds so unserious, like she is half joking, half trying to make a point

Her controversial takes are… that society has progressed since the 1930s and then she said that the movie/ride scared her when she was little? Wow, what a monster.

And your sources are right wing grifters :rip:

It's whatever that they're updating the original for the remake, but it's just the way she went about all her comments that is putting people off. You can talk about the modernization without trashing the original and constantly saying how much you hated it. The amount of actresses that would give anything to play one of the most iconic Disney characters and then you have the one you hired saying she hated the original source material. If you hated the original so much WHY would you even bother getting involved with this one? It just comes across as ungrateful and arrogant. Literally everything Snow White isn't. Feel however you want about the remakes, but she's killing this one before it's even gotten off the ground :rip:

It is annoying though. Hollywood is getting lazy and unoriginal with their remakes and sequels. Instead of changing classic stories, why not just come up with an original story and a new character?

well, like 90% of the biggest hits in recent years are unoriginal

She’s been unbearable promoting it already and the movie isn’t even out until next year :skull:

I just watched the interviews. Yikes. The way she presents herself is off-putting and arrogant. When she said how they rewrote the script and Snow White no longer dreams of true love nor does she get saved by a prince but is a strong leader — GIRL, just say you’re making an entirely different movie about yourself. That ain’t Snow White. It’s Snow Zegler. Sounds like it’s all about her and her take on how she’d want to be portrayed as a princess. She did a horrific job marketing this movie. Is Disney sure they wanna move forward with this actress?

Do you think she wrote the script or is directing the film?

Even if she hated the original movie, she should've just lied tbh. This controversy is not worth it.

Well, Disney is to blame for sure but she’s still doing a terrible job marketing this as a “Snow White” movie. This deserves to get scrapped.

because the film industry is dying… people don’t go to the cinema to watch new things sadly and it’s not profitable…pretty much 95% of the films out there are either a sequel, part of a franchise or a spin-off !
