Disney Employee Calls Out Rachel Zegler: "There’s no respect for what Disney did "

David Hand, whose late father of the same name was the original film’s director, worked for Disney as a designer in the 1990s. He said that Disney and his dad would be “turning in their graves” if they were alive to see the new “Snow White.” “It’s a whole different concept and I just totally disagree with it, and I know my dad and Walt would also very much disagree with it,” Hand said.

He added that it is a “disgrace” the studio is “trying to do something new with something that was such a great success earlier,” saying, “Their thoughts are just so radical now. They change the stories, they change the thought process of the characters. They’re making up new things and I’m just not into any of that. I find it quite frankly a bit insulting [what] they may have done with some of these classic films.”

Zegler also continues to receive backlash after her own response to the criticism, where she wished the world would be a kinder place. Savy internet users were quick to point out that she led a hate campaign against fellow actress Gina Carano just 3 years ago.

I feel bad for her. I'm sure her PR person, who probably had some communications with Disney, told her to say the kinds of things she's saying to emphasize the feminist angle of the movie. Now she's getting universally dragged

This whole controversy is absolutely ridiculous. She was at a Disney event saying Disney-approved talking points that she was fed to promote this movie. All of these remakes girlboss-ify the original material to modernize them. All these grown people pretending they care about the 1937 Snow White because they’re just that desperate to dunk on a 22 year old woman, I swear to god…

Please his father was just a director copying instructions and ideas written for him by the actual creatives that came up with the story itself, he can suffer :sistrens:

It's disrespectful. Wdym? She appears on the new version of it and trashed the old one :rip:

We all know she's right but she can't come for a classic like that before she at least proved herself.

Why is she an horrible person? Because she called out that transphobe Gina Carano?

Two things are happening:

1 - Racism because shes not White

2 - She shouldn't trash the film she is remaking because you ended trashing both at the same time.

3 - Her career seems dead on arrival, poor girl has controversy in all her big projects

This is obv a silly discourse but they could've just said they're updating the story to current times/doing their own take (like Camila and the people involved in her version of Cinderella did during their promo for it per example) instead of belittling the original like it came across so :skull:

Snow White is not only the best Disney movie it's one of the most important films ever made. People well outside of Disney adults and stan Twitter have a ton of reverence for it.

If it was a remake of any other universally acclaimed movie that completely revolutionized the industry she'd be crucified for her comments even more.

This poor girl seems to be the new cultural punching bag.

They have mascot-ized her as like the ultimate cringe “Hollywood” sjw who is being picked apart for the most unremarkable pop-feminist statements ever. Also now that the little mermaid is out and came and went they need to funnel their anger into something else and unfortunately she is a perfect candidate.

The original movie is corny and one-dimensional with the typical prince saves personalityless woman story. It was not good so there is nothing to respect.

If you have reverence for a cliche, predictable and boring story, that is a you-lacking-taste problem. It is not Rachel's problem.
